EDFL Women's Weekend Outlook - May 17, 2025

We're heading into the sixth round of the season, and things are starting to heat up in Airport Toyota Premier Division.

Oak Park gets things underway this week as they prepare to take on Moonee Valley at JP Fawkner Reserve on Saturday.

The side is currently riding a three-game winning streak, following their 71-point demolition against Essendon Doutta Stars last week.

Tamsyn Kirk is becoming an integral asset for the side, with the key position star kicking a total of nine goals so far this season, six of those coming last week.

Moonee Valley will be looking to bounce back after a 34-point loss against Keilor.

They last secured a victory back in Round 4 where they dominated Maribyrnong Park by 87-points.

It will be a challenge for Moonee Valley, as they come up against a determined Oak Park unit who sit third on the ladder.

Hillside Recreation Reserve will play host to a matchup between Hillside and Greenvale

It's another chance for Hillside to show why they're ones to watch in 2025.

Hillside has been relentless in recent weeks, recently toppling Aberfeldie from the top of the ladder.

Greenvale enters the new week with a record of 2-3.

After a brutal 164-point loss to Aberfeldie last week, they'll need to dig deep to regain momentum for the remainder of the season.

Greenvale will need to be firing on all fronts if they're to keep up with Hillside's intensity.

Over at Clifton Park, fans will be treated to an intriguing clash between Aberfeldie and Keilor.

A 164-point win last week saw Aberfeldie return back to the winner's circle, headlined by another impressive performance by Moana Hope.

Currently the division's leading goal scorer with 26, Hope continues her stellar run in 2025, bagging seven goals last week alone.

Her heroics were supported by Emily Smith (six goals) and Briana Marino (four goals), both of whom have also impressed for Aberfeldie this season.

Keilor cruised to a 34-point win over Moonee Valley, and will be looking to collect another win to their campaign.

Aberfeldie have been steadily regaining form following their round four loss, which snapped their undefeated streak. But with Keilor sitting fifth on the ladder and building momentum, expect a fierce contest.

Essendon Doutta Stars and Maribyrnong Park round out Saturday's fixture, with the two teams meeting at Nipper Jordan Oval.

The Stars come into the round with a record of 3-2. They weren't able to outpace an in-form Oak Park last week, falling to a disappointing 71-point defeat.

Round 6 offers them the opportunity to bounce back and secure what will be a much-needed win for the side.

Essendon will be looking to key players, including Adalita Pizzinga and Jayla Rutley, to step up and help guide the side to a victory.

For Maribyrnong Park, it's shaping up to be a tough test. Still winless this season, they'll be hungry to turn things around as the ladder begins to take shape and the competition intensifies.

With the league still in the midst of the split round, a match-up between Tullamarine and Strathmore is the only game scheduled this week.

Lebanon Reserve will host a big clash, with the ladder leaders’ taking on the side sitting fifth.

Tullamarine claimed a 31-point victory over Coburg Districts last time out.

The red-hot win saw Tricia Devine and Laycee Eustace continue their strong form in Division One, kicking a goal each.

But despite their standout performances this season, the upcoming match poses a major test.

Strathmore's strong pressure has been on display all season and will be tough to overcome.

Round 5 of Airport Toyota Division Two continues when the Sunbury Lions take on Roxburgh Park in the second week of the split round.

The Lions entered the week off following a 77-point thumping over East Sunbury.

In what was also their first win for the season, the Lions put scoreless games and one-point heartbreaks behind them.

They’ll look to go two straight with a win in this match and continue their revival to the 2025 campaign.

Roxburgh Park, however, hope to carry the thrill and momentum of their four-point win two weeks ago into this match.

It’s been nothing short of an interesting season for the side.

Their 2025 campaign so far has had it all, with blowouts and nail-biting finishes on both sides of the spectrum.

Its fifth taking on fourth in a crucial match for both sides, and you can watch it live and free on Streamer thanks to Nelson Alexander EDFL Match of the Day.

East Sunbury return to John McMahon Recreation Reserve to take on Taylors Lakes.

After a loss to forget for the Thunder, East Sunbury will be hoping for a return to form in this one.

They’ll be challenging the second place Taylors Lakes who know how to attack oppositions’ defence.

Up until their clash with Gisborne two weeks ago, the Lions had only conceded eight points.

Taylors Lakes are ready to bounce back from their Gisborne loss, and look to do so this Saturday.
