ABERFELDIE 17.8 (110) def. GREENVALE 8.12 (60)
MATCH CENTRE

Aberfeldie has returned to the winner's list after defeating Greenvale by 50 points at Clifton Park.

The win breaks a two-game losing streak for Abers and keeps them in touch with the top end, however they share a 5-3 record with rivals Keilor.

Greenvale remain with just the one victory for the year with the side still sitting in last spot, however are still just one game behind Airport West and Hillside.

Coach Leigh Tudor lauded Jack Middleton’s effort in the ruck on his return from injury as well as the performance of his midfield and defence.

After an even first term which saw both sides boot goals, Abers skipped out to a 39-point half time lead thanks to six second-quarter goals.

Another four goals to the home side in the third quarter followed by three more in the last term meant Greenvale could never get in touching distance.

Will Brkic’s brilliant season continued with another five-goal haul, while Jordan Lombardo backed up last week’s performance with another 32 disposals and six marks.

Liam Podhajski fought hard in the ruck for Greenvale finishing with 25 disposals and 27 hit outs, while Jayden Ranno and Oliver Watt also had strong games.

Abers will now gear up for the marquee King’s Birthday clash with Strathmore at Windy Hill, while Greenvale will meet with Essendon Doutta Stars at Section Road after the break.

HILLSIDE 3.11 (29) def. by KEILOR 20.20 (140)
MATCH CENTRE

Keilor has returned to its dominant best, defeating Hillside by 111 points at Shark Park.

The win marks four wins in a row for the Blues and maintains their spot in third position with five wins for the year.

Saturday was another reminder for the Sharks of just how tough Premier Division footy is, with the side suffering its second defeat by 90+ points.

Coach Mick McGuane thought his side was very good in the contest and at clearance and also brought plenty of pressure which underpinned their performance.

Keilor were on song from the first bounce, booting seven goals in the first quarter and raced out to a 44-point lead.

After a quiet second term which only yielded three goals for both sides, the Blues stormed home with five goals in the third quarter and four goals in the final term.

Josh Honey backed up last week’s heroics with another five goals, while Tom McGuane and Jack Brown were very good again.

Despite being well beaten, Daniel Barker hit the scoreboard in his first game for Hillside, while Ryan Lojko and Riley Allan showed plenty of positive signs.

After the break, Keilor will return to Joe Brown Oval to take on Deer Park while Hillside will meet with Maribyrnong Park at Monk Oval.

DEER PARK 23.12 (150) def. AIRPORT WEST 12.9 (81)
MATCH CENTRE

Deer Park has recorded its third victory for the year, defeating Airport West by 69 points at John McLeod Reserve.

The win moves the Lions a game clear of Airport West and Hillside.

After showing some positive signs last week, Saturday’s performance was a step back for Airport West which is still just one win above last spot.

Coach Jamie Madigan said he was happy with the overall team performance over the full four quarters.

"It was the first time all year we won every quarter and didn’t have any costly lapses in concentration," Madigan said.

"It was also great to get multiple goal kickers particularly from some of our small crumbing forwards like Mark Galea, Daniel Strnak, Anthony Anastasio, and Spiros Amarantidis.”

A six-goal opening quarter from the home side helped open up a 12-point quarter time lead before another four goals extended the margin to 30 points.

Seven goals in the third quarter put the result beyond doubt, before another five majors in the last quarter sealed the victory.

Jackson Barling and Nick Ebinger did the damage up forward booting five goals each, while Kwame McHarg was at his destructive best with another 38 disposals and a goal.

Ned Gentile continues to fight hard collecting 33 disposals and two goals, while Matthew Gook had a solid game kicking three goals.

Deer Park will be looking to test themselves when it next takes on Keilor at Joe Brown Oval, while Airport West will next meet with Pascoe Vale at Hansen Reserve.

MARIBYRNONG PARK 10.13 (73) def. by STRATHMORE 11.20 (86)
MATCH CENTRE

Strathmore has come out on top in its toughest test yet, defeating Maribyrnong Park by 13 points at Monk Oval.

The win maintains the reigning premier's two-game buffer on top of the ladder with the side still undefeated for 2026.

Meanwhile, Maribyrnong Park has suffered its fourth defeat in a row against a quality side, however it did show plenty of promising signs.

Coach Matthew Horne was pleased that when his men were challenged, they lifted, and was rapt they were able to beat a quality side despite being a little bit inconsistent.

The Mores had the game on their terms early, taking a 14-point lead into quarter time before extending that to 26 points at the main break, however it could’ve been more if the side kicked straighter.

The Lions were able to claw their way back in the third term booting four goals to cut Strathmore’s lead to just nine points.

With their unbeaten streak at risk, Marby levelled the scores halfway through the final term, however Strathmore held its nerve and kicked the final two goals which was enough to seal the win.

Oscar Mammoliti had his best game at senior level kicking three goals, while Andrew Gallucci and Lucas Cavallaro were both very good.

Despite going down, Sam Calleri was a difficult matchup up forward kicking three goals, while Josh Eyre and Logan Geddes put in solid performances.

Marby will be looking to break their losing streak when they take on Hillside at home, while Strathmore will face Aberfeldie at Windy Hill on Saturday.

PASCOE VALE 11.8 (74) def. ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 7.10 (52)
MATCH CENTRE

Pascoe Vale has made it three wins in a row, defeating Essendon Doutta Stars by 22 points at Raeburn Reserve.

The win maintains the Panthers' grip on second spot with the side only losing two games for the year.

After a positive month which saw wins over Keilor and Aberfeldie, Saturday showed the Stars still have work to do to compete with the ladder leaders, however are still in fifth.

Pascoe Vale had its noses in front at quarter time thanks to a four-goal opening quarter, before another three goals in the second quarter extended the lead to 23 points.

Two goals to both sides did little to break the game open in the third quarter, however two final-quarter goals were enough for the Panthers to ensure their sixth win for the year.

Superstars Todd Goldstein and Jed Anderson both starred for Pascoe Vale, while Ben Allan’s stellar year continued.

Despite going down, Dylan Laurie was very good again, while Daniel Romero and Dalton Comito both showed plenty of fight.

After the break, Pascoe Vale will be looking to make it four in a row when it travels to Hansen Reserve to take on Airport West, while Douttas will meet with Greenvale at Section Road.

ABERFELDIE 14.7 (91) def. CAROLINE SPRINGS 4.5 (29)
MATCH CENTRE

Aberfeldie made a statement in the top-of-the-table-clash with a 62-point win over Caroline Springs in a fast and exciting goal-fest at Aberfeldie Park.

The Two Blues were dominant from the get-go and booted an unblemished seven goals in the first quarter, while the Lakers were unable to put a major on the board until the last term.

Moana Hope had another impressive day out with a match-leading four goals, joining an array of goalscorers for the home side, with Jamine Ferbrache and Emily Smith both scoring three.

The Two Blues would go on to score an additional 5.4 (34) by three-quarter-time, putting themselves up by 72 points as the final term began.

While the match was already won for Aberfeldie, Caroline Springs didn’t let the margin get in its way of one last surge.

The Lakers won the final term, booting 4.1 (25) off the boots of Kyla Tracey (who slotted two), Sharni Currie, and Jessica Francke.

Mira Diab, Caitlyn Volpe, and Alyssa De Bono were named as some of the Lakers’ best in the contest.

Aberfeldie produced two match highlights in the final term, with a goal of the year contender, and an almost mark of the year nominee.

Captain Olivia Madden sent a long driving kick into the Two Blues’ attacking 50 where it was met by a flying Emily Smith who flew over the pack, getting hands on the footy, but was unable to carry it down.

Jasmine Ferbrache’s big day was topped off with a fourth-quarter check-side goal from the boundary, in what will surely be up there as one of the goals of the season.

Madden, Ferbrache, and Hope were named as some of Abers’ best while it was Hannah Brodie who was named the Doutta Galla Hotel Player of the Match.

With the Kings’ Birthday mid-season bye set for next weekend, both sides will have to wait for their next hit outs, with the Lakers set to host Hillside, and the Two Blues hitting the road to meet Essendon Doutta Stars.

MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park has made it four in a row with a big win on the road, running away with the chocolates by 38 points at Nipper Jordan Oval.

After the Stars held the lead by the narrowest of margins at the first change, the Kangas jumped ahead of their opposition from there, scoring the next 7.5 (47) to 1.2 (8).

Felicity Theodore, Ellie Huggard, and Sasha Nelson were again named as some of Oak Park’s best.

It was seven goal scorers for the Roos, the most they’ve had since Round 1.

Emily Findlay got on the board with two majors in her second appearance of the season.

Brittney Gray, Tayah Kelly, Tamsyn Kirk, Holly McGregor, Sasha Nelson, and Emily Taylor were the blue and white’s one-off scorers.

The result sees the Roos remain in third place heading into the mid-season bye and are just one win underneath top spot, albeit a hefty percentage separates them and Aberfeldie.

Essendon Doutta Stars have dropped one spot to the fifth rung and will look for more wins on the board in the season’s second half.

Ada Pizzinga and Isabelle Porter again found the big sticks in Saturday's contest, taking their season tallies to a respective eight and five.

Jayla Rutley, Manaia Huta, Zoe Attard, Millie Thompson, Ella Tyson, and Isla Iannacone were named as the Stars’ best-on at Nipper Jordan Oval.

After the competition bye, the Stars will host the ladder-leaders Aberfeldie in an exciting clash.

Oak Park will travel to Green Gully Reserve for a contest with Keilor.

MOONEE VALLEY 6.4 (40) def. HILLSIDE 1.8 (14)
MATCH CENTRE

Moonee Valley has returned to the winner's circle following a 26-point win over the Sharks at Ormond Park.

After proceedings got underway with the two goals for the Fog and a late major for Hillside, it was Moonee Valley that further extend its lead for the remainder of the contest.

The Fog went on to boot an additional 4.4 (28) to send themselves away to sing the song while the Sharks produced six straight behinds.

Lily McRostie, Annalise Wilkie, and Hannah Ibrahim were named as the Sharks’ best.

After the Sharks claimed their first win under Blaise Ferraro in his coaching return, the team in tricolours were hopeful of securing another victory in this match but were denied the opportunity.

The result sees Moonee Valley pick up its third win of the season, positioned seventh on the table as the first half of the season concludes.

Captain Nadia Valenti was the only multiple goalscorer on Saturday with three majors taking her tally to a club-leading 13.

Michaela Chalhoub, Kate Maxwell, and Isabelle Raines also found the big sticks for Moonee Valley.

Meg Harrison was named top of the best-on list for the black and white and was joined by Rhiannon Busch, Nadia Valenti, and Chalhoub.

In Round 9 we’ll see Moonee Valley travel to Walsh Oval for a meeting with Maribyrnong Park in the battle of Moonee Ponds.

Hillside will travel down Gourlay Road for a contest with Caroline Springs.

MARIBYRNONG PARK 3.3 (21) def. by STRATHMORE 14.9 (93)
MATCH CENTRE

Strathmore has surged to second spot on the ladder following a 72-point win over Maribyrnong Park at Walsh Oval.

In what was a big day of celebrations for Maribyrnong Park, the Lions saw two of their own reach game milestones, with Camryn Liddle and Saskia Williams running through joint banners in game 100 and 150 respectively.

But it was Strathmore who spoiled the party, booting four goals to nil in the first term.

Milla Murphy scored the opening two majors before Charli Sette quickly joined in on the action, with a captain’s goal from Eloise Egglestone rounding out the opening 20 minutes.

Murphy would finish the day with an individual season-best of four majors, with Kodi Jacques and Talia Motta both finding two.

The Mores were dominant in the contest, finding a lot of play in their attacking 50 early.

Sarah McKinnon was named the gold and navy blue’s best of the match, racking up disposals wherever you looked in addition to being a clearance machine and booting a late second-quarter goal.

The Mores booted five goals in the final term to end the contest with nine goal scorers.

After a goalless first quarter, Maribyrnong Park found its mojo in the second term.

The Lions played with a lot more force and dominance after the first change, owning a lot of the play in their attacking 50.

Dimi Papadopoulos scored the Lions’ first major from a kick off the ground in the second term and was named as one of the side’s best alongside Jess Owen, Chloe Healy, and Camryn Liddle.

Evie Fitzgerald found goal in the third term of play while it was an early last-quarter goal for Saskia Williams in game 150.

Attention now turns to Round 9’s meeting with Moonee Valley at Walsh Oval for the Lions.

Strathmore will take an additional weekend off beyond the mid-season bye and will return for Round 10’s clash with Hillside at Shark Park.

AVONDALE HEIGHTS 16.7 (103) def. TAYLORS LAKES 12.10 (82)
MATCH CENTRE

Avondale Heights has bounced back from last week’s disappointing effort with a hard-fought come-from-behind 21-point win over Taylors Lakes.

The Heights trailed at every break in play but found another gear in the fourth quarter to produce a six-goal-to-nil final term.

Nathan Foster was unstoppable in the final quarter with three goals in as many minutes to put the Heights up by nine points with 15 minutes of play remaining.

Avondale now sits at an even ledger of four wins and four losses heading into the back half of the season, with their best footy certainly good enough to compete with the best.

Meanwhile for the Lions, they’ve been left scrambling after what was a deflating ending to one of their better performances.

The Lions were superb for the first three quarters, leading at every change and ahead by nearly five goals halfway through the second term.

But they couldn’t get it done, and their sixth loss of the season sees them in seventh position on the ladder with just two wins to their account.

The Heights will make the trip down Maribyrnong Road to Ormand Park for their bout with Moonee Valley after the break, while the Lions will look to make amends when they host Oak Park.

ST ALBANS 8.7 (55) def. by OAK PARK 29.17 (191)
MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park has returned to the winner’s enclosure in emphatic style with a dominant 136-point win over St Albans at Kings Park Reserve.

Signs were looking ominous for St Albans early as the Roos came out firing with six goals to nil in the first term, and 11 total shots on goal to just the singular.

But the Saints showed some fight in the second quarter, and after an even five goals apiece, the game was still relatively in the balance.

It was all over at three-quarter time, however.

The Roos stormed away in the third term with an eight-goal-to-one quarter which all but sealed the deal.

A further last quarter avalanche of 10 goals struck a nail into the coffin as the margin ballooned out to 136 points come the final siren.

A terrific display from Oak Park, they're back in the winner’s list after a loss against Moonee Valley last week.

Kane O’Halloran was lethal in front of goal with six majors, while it was business as usual for co-captain Jedd Taylor as he slotted four goals in his return from injury.

It gets no easier for the Saints next week when they take on Craigieburn, while Oak Park will hit the road for a clash with Taylors Lakes.

TULLAMARINE 8.3 (51) def. by MOONEE VALLEY 8.13 (61)
MATCH CENTRE

Moonee Valley overturned a lacklustre opening quarter to grind down Tullamarine and record an important 10-point win away from home.

After only kicking the single goal in the first quarter and trailing by two goals, Moonee Valley responded in the second term with four goals to one.

With their back six holding up superbly, it was a tight battle for the rest of bout with Tullamarine continuing to stick around.

The Valley took a 10-point lead into three-quarter time and were able to cling to this margin and hold firm as winners.

They remain in second position on the ladder, with an impressive record of six wins and just the two defeats for the season so far.

While for the Deea, they’ve fallen to fifth after dropping a crucial one here.

Haidyn Shade was excellent for the Valley, while vice-captain Luke Denny hit the scoreboard with two majors.

On the other side of the ledger, Jake Long took his chances in front of goal with three goals for the Dees.

Tullamarine will clash with Rupertswood next week, while Moonee Valley is set for a date with Avondale Heights at home.

EAST KEILOR 13.8 (86) def. by RUPERTSWOOD 13.20 (98)
MATCH CENTRE

Rupertswood has staved off a rejuvenated East Keilor in what was a challenging 12-point victory for the visitors.

The visitors struck the scoreboard early with six first-quarter goals to the Cougar’s four, however, in a sign of what was to come for the rest of day, Rupo were wasteful in front of goal and would continue to do so.

East Keilor returned serve in the second to peg the margin back down to just the two points, and in similar fashion, the third quarter was also a tight contest in which the two sides traded blows.

While Rupo held a six-point advantage at the final break in play, the margin arguably should have been a lot greater as the visitors had failed to take their chances in front goals.

Rupertswood proved too strong for what was a greatly improved East Keilor performance, however their converson in front of goal let them down.

Just 13 goals from 33 shots won’t be enough to compete with the top-end of the competition, so expect Rupo to tidy this up in what’s a pivotal game for their season next week.

Bailey Verrall was busy around the ground in an excellent performance, while Logan Johnson was also one of their best.

For East Keilor, Cooper Matthews had a day to remember with a haul of seven goals.

After the break, East Keilor will have it all to do against the firing West Coburg, while Rupertswood will host Tullamarine.

WEST COBURG 20.13 (133) def. CRAIGIEBURN 12.2 (74)
MATCH CENTRE

West Coburg dealt Craigieburn a harsh reality check after a commanding 59-point victory which has affirmed their position as premiership favourites.

In what was a statement to the rest of the competition, the Burgers powered away from Craigieburn in a sublime performance to ensure they remained alone at the top of ladder.

With eight scoring shots to two in the first quarter, the Burgers appeared to be clicking from the get-go.

Ten goals in the first half to the Eagles’ six saw the Burgers hold a 35-point buffer over their opponents come the main break in play.

Craigieburn toiled away to win the third quarter by seven points, but the Burgers tightened the screws and kicked clear in the last to run away as 59-point winners.

Jesse Martini had a day out with a bag of five goals for the Burgers, while usual suspect Thomas Baravi was amongst their best yet again.

For the Eagles, Matthew Kichakov booted through three majors and was one of their best contributors in the loss.

West Coburg will return to Shore Reserve time out when it takes on East Keilor, while Craigieburn hosts St Albans.

After the break, Roxy will meet one of the premiership favourites in Keilor Park at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve in a morning slot.

Coburg Districts move into seventh position on the ladder following the win, while Sunbury Lions remain in second last.

But 12 scoring shots to zero in the second term kicked off the dominant performance by the home side.

The visitors found their first and only goal in the third quarter but another six goals in the second half for the Devils proved why they are well and truly in the Division One premiership race.

Caitlyn Crameri nailed four goals with Georgia O’Donovan and Georgia Cassar kicking three goals each to lead their side to a huge victory.

Lisa Kirby and Tylah Bell continued their strong personal campaigns, and both received best player honours on a tough afternoon for the Kangaroos.

After the break, Keilor Park will meet Roxburgh Park at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve in a morning slot.

The Sunbury Kangaroos will be out for redemption when they play in their fourth twilight game of 2026 against the Sunbury Lions at Eric Boardman Reserve.
