GREENVALE 8.5 (53) def. by STRATHMORE 27.17 (179)
MATCH CENTRE

Strathmore has flexed its muscles and strengthened its grip on top spot after defeating Greenvale by 126 points at Section Road.

Saturday’s victory is the Mores' fourth win for the year and the biggest win by any side in Premier Division in 2026.

Meanwhile, despite picking up its first win for the year last week, Greenvale is left languishing in last spot on the ladder.

The reigning premiers made their intentions clear early on, booting 10 opening quarter goals and went into the first change with a 46-point lead.

After an even second quarter, Greenvale couldn’t stem the flow, with the Mores putting through another seven goals in both the third and fourth quarter to help record a resounding victory.

Coach Matthew Horne said the win was his side's “best team performance of the year" with an even effort across the ground.

Corey Grindlay and Alex Tonelli dined out kicking five goals each, while Lachlan Plant and Ryan Brodie were excellent once again.

Josh Porter can hold his head high kicking four of his side's eight goals, while Matt Stillman continued his strong start to the year.

Strathmore will next face off with neighbours Pascoe Vale, while Greenvale will meet with Deer Park.

AIRPORT WEST 10.15 (75) def. by AIRPORT WEST 10.16 (76)
MATCH CENTRE

Hillside has recorded its first win in men's Premier Division in a thrilling one-point triumph over Airport West at Hansen Reserve.

After being competitive for the first three matches but ultimately unable to get over the line, the win provides much needed relief for a club looking to make its mark in top flight footy.

After going down on Saturday, Brent Taylor’s side has now lost three games on the bounce after a strong opening round performance.

Mo Kaakour thought his side's “ability to match Airport West on the inside and also own the perimeter was the catalyst to gaining the ascendency in a tightly fought game".

Just like they have been for much of the year, the Sharks were up for the contest and quickly opened up a 25-point lead.

A three-goal-to-two second quarter meant the advantage was extended to 32 points going into the main break.

In desperate need of a response, Airport West lifted after half time and whittled Hillside's lead down to 17 points after four third-quarter goals.

The Eagles had plenty of chances in the final term to put themselves in front but couldn’t make the most of them and went down by just one point.

Veteran Robbie Castello was the star of the show booting four goals, while youngsters Nick Fluke and Khalil Kaakour shined once again.

Airport West's Cooper Janevski had his best game for the year, kicking four goals while Kai Daniels and Matthew Hansen continued their strong form.

Hillside will be hoping to make it two in a row when it takes on Essendon Doutta Stars, while Airport West will square off with Keilor.

DEER PARK 17.5 (107) def. by MARIBYRNONG PARK 21.14 (140)
MATCH CENTRE

Maribyrnong Park has leapt into second spot on the ladder after defeating Deer Park by 33 points at John McLeod Reserve.

The wins maintains the Lions' perfect record and is the club’s best start to a season since 2018.

Deer Park is still searching for its second win for the year, with the side's only win coming against Hillside in Round 2.

The visitors made the most of the strong breeze in the first term, booting eight goals to four and were ahead by 27 points at quarter time.

An even second term meant the Lions were still in front by 20 points at the main break before seven third-quarter goals opened up a 49-point buffer at three quarter time.

The home side came with a surge at the start of the last quarter kicking the first five goals, before Marby steadied the ship with two late goals to help ensure the victory.

Coach Brodie Holland was rapt with the maturity and game management of his side late, especially when Deer Park came with a rush at beginning of the last quarter.

Brandon Ryan put the competition on notice with another bag of seven goals, while Rory Atkins and Jai Brinkkotter were very good once again.

Daniel Strnak had his best game in blue and gold kicking four goals, while Kwame McHarg was at his brilliant best once again.

Marby will be looking to prove they are the real deal when they take on Aberfeldie at Clifton Park, while Deer Park will be back at home to square off with Greenvale.

ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 14.4 (88) def. KEILOR 7.8 (50)
MATCH CENTRE

Essendon Doutta Stars has pulled off the upset of the year so far, defeating Keilor by 38 points at Nipper Jordan Oval.

After a difficult first three weeks, Saturday’s victory is deserved reward for effort and shows the club is still heading in the right direction.

Keilor has now lost three of its first four matches and is in sixth spot with plenty of football still to play.

The home side capitalised on Keilor’s inaccuracy in front of goal, kicking 3.1 to 1.4 and went into the first break with a nine-point advantage.

Three goals to two in the second quarter extended the margin to 14 points at the main break and gave the side a genuine chance of victory heading into the second half.

The damage was done in the third quarter with the Stars booting five goals and holding the Blues goalless, which meant the lead was 43 points at three quarter time.

Three of the first four goals of the final term were enough to ensure a memorable first victory for the year.

Barry Prendergast was pleased with his side's defence early in the game as well as their contest work and accuracy in front of goal after it had been an issue in the opening three games.

Mitchell Kalpakis continues to show why the club pushed so hard to get him over the offseason with the midfielder collecting 31 disposals and 13 marks, while Dec Willmore starred with five goals.

Despite going down, Jamie Papalia was excellent amassing 24 disposals and nine tackles, while Jack Brown fought hard all day.

Keilor will be looking for a response when it hosts Airport West, while Douttas will travel to Shark Park to take on Hillside.

PASCOE VALE 11.23 (89) def. ABERFELDIE 9.14 (68)
MATCH CENTRE

Pascoe Vale has recorded its best win for 2026, defeating Aberfeldie by 21 points at Raeburn Reserve.

Saturday’s victory bumps the Panthers up to third spot on the ladder and makes up for last week’s loss against Keilor.

After a strong opening three weeks, the weekend’s performance was a step back for Abers, however they are still two games clear in fourth spot.

The visitors made the most of the conditions early in the match, booting five goals to take them into the first change with a 22-point lead.

The lead was cut to 10 points at half time, however Pascoe Vale didn’t take full advantage of the breeze, kicking 3.8 for the term.

Neither side could stamp their authority on the contest in the third quarter, however Abers still managed two goals which put them in front by 24 points at the last change.

In need of a special performance to turn the game in their favour, Pascoe Vale delivered, booting six goals and 10 behinds to help them run over the top and record an impressive victory.

Matthew Dennis was huge in the ruck picking up 34 disposals and 40 hit outs, while Carled El Khodr was dynamic with 32 disposals and two goals.

Will Brkic’s hot start to the year continued with another 28 disposals and two goals, while Matthew Williamson collected another 33 disposals and four clearances.

Aberfeldie will be looking to bounce back when it hosts Maribyrnong Park, while Pascoe Vale will meet with Strathmore at Lebanon Reserve.

ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 3.8 (26) def. by CAROLINE SPRINGS 4.7 (31)
MATCH CENTRE

Caroline Springs has continued its unbeaten run in season 2026 following a five-point win in a come-from-behind victory over Essendon Doutta Stars at Buckley Park.

In an intense match from start to finish, both outfits showed some seriously impressive levels of fitness and talent in this top-of-the-table clash.

The Stars opened strongly with an early goal from Mia Tully, fresh off her five-goal outing last weekend. Tully would go on to score all three of her side’s majors of the afternoon.

The Stars demonstrated outstanding performance and skill in ball movement, drawing upon piercing handballs and effective kicking to move the ball down the field quickly.

Harmony Mitsos also stood out across the field, with Ada Pizzinga strong in the ruck.

Caroline Springs’ defence was like no other, with captain Caitlin Pretty using her marking strengths among Lakers’ backline players to try and stop any Doutta’s score.

Momentum was building within the Lakers’ who sought to snatch the lead, but only picked up their first goal of the match in the second term off the boot of Jacinta Kondis, trailing by eight at the main break.

It was a rapid third quarter blitz from the travelling Lakers who boosted their score by two goals thanks to accurate shots from Mira Diab and Kondis.

Heading into the final 20 minutes, both sides eagerly wanted to walk away winners, with the Stars holding a narrow advantage by two points.

As the wind continued to play its part in the game, Caroline Springs continued to fire, storming home winners with credit to a potential goal of the year from Taya Meiers.

Named as one of Lakers’ best for the match, Meiers played an outstanding last quarter with possessions everywhere and a running goal from fair distance on the boundary.

It was a gallant effort from the Stars who continued to try and work their way back into the match but just couldn’t get past the impeccable backline of their opponents.

Essendon Doutta Stars will look to bounce back when it faces Hillside on Saturday morning.

Caroline Springs’ road trip will continue at Ormond Park in a date with Moonee Valley.

ABERFELDIE 7.13 (55) def. KEILOR 1.4 (10)
MATCH CENTRE

Aberfeldie has surged to the top of the ladder following a 45-point win over Keilor at Clifton Park.

In the battle of the blues, it was the Two Blues who proved too strong and dominated in contest, holding Keilor to just one goal.

Moana Hope bookended the match by securing the game’s first and last goals, also striking the big sticks in the second quarter along with Jess Duffin.

The pair joined Lara Churchill, Maddy Hall and Emily Smith in snagging Abers’ goals on Saturday.

After a slow start, Hope has kicked off her year well with 10 goals coming from her past three games.

Aberfeldie got out to a 30-point lead over Keilor at the main break as the Blues headed into the second half goalless.

Keeping their heads held high, the Keilor outfit entered the second half full of optimism, searching for a maiden goal and looking to go on from there.

It was Kaitlyn O’Keefe who fired away early for Keilor and secured what would be the Blues’ one and only goal for the match.

Kaitlyn joins her sister Emily in being named some of Keilor’s best in the contest, showing some positives out of the Joe Brown Oval camp despite the team being held scoreless in the final term.

Olivia Castello picked up her third best-on appearance out of a possible four as she continued to solidify herself as one of Keilor’s key talents on Saturday.

But it was Aberfeldie’s day as it stormed home to a substantial win over its opponent, with former AFLW Roo Tahni Nestor being named the club’s best, picking up her first best-on for the year.

Amelia Wright also secured a third consecutive best-on appearance and will look to make it four next weekend when Aberfeldie welcomes Strathmore.

Keilor returns to Green Gully Reserve on Saturday as it takes on Maribyrnong Park in a must-win match.

HILLSIDE 1.0 (6) def. by OAK PARK 5.4 (34)
MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park is back on the winner's list for the first time since Round 1 after defeating Hillside in the grand final rematch, taking home the chocolates by 28 points at Shark Park.

Following losses in their past two matches after trailing at three-quarter-time, the Roos ran into enemy territory looking to establish themselves as a side that can go all the way and taste victory.

Hillside entered this clash fresh off the bye, looking for redemption after a Round 2 defeat to Maribyrnong Park.

But it was the stripes of blue and white that dazzled the defending champions, holding the Sharks scoreless until the final quarter.

Jorja Elisseou and Tayah Kelly were two Kangas who kicked double while away from home. Ellie Huggard secured her major in the first quarter.

It’s a result that the Hillside camp would’ve wanted to see the least, with the Sharks now placed in the lower half of the Premier Division ladder at sixth position.

While the loss became inevitable, the Sharks breathed a sigh of relief when Kiara Rigg kicked the side’s lone goal as the siren’s sound drew near.

Rigg was named as one of the Sharks' best in the contest, along with Annie Gray, Krissy Trang, and captain Hannah Ibrahim.

Oak Park boasted strong performances from Maggie Styles, Kelly, and Huggard.

Hillside will look to return to form when it faces off with Essendon Doutta Stars on Saturday morning at Shark Park.

Oak Park will have to get over the bye before its clash with Caroline Springs in Round 6.

STRATHMORE 6.7 (43) def. MOONEE VALLEY 3.5 (23)
MATCH CENTRE

Strathmore has picked up a 20-point win over Moonee Valley at Lebanon Reserve in a hard-fought contest in the Nelson Alexander EDFL Match of the Day.

The Mores proved too good at home overall, but an exciting final term from the Fog showed us their determination to its fullest.

Strathmore opened the game strongly and took a 3.3 (21) lead over Moonee Valley at the first change following goals from Milla Murphy, Maeve Langston, and Emma Artigas.

Murphy was the only goalscorer to secure double on Saturday after another major in the third quarter, and was joined by Talia Motta and Tacita Siliato on the goal sheet.

The Mores took things out to 6.7 (43) at the final change and would be held scoreless from there.

Some late determination from Moonee Valley showed that it never gave up in the contest against such a strong team as Bonnie Farrell got things underway on the goal sheet for the black and white.

While the Fog didn’t score big in the third term, they won the last quarter 2.2 (14) to nil thanks to majors from Nadia Valenti and Kate Maxwell, adding some late spice to the contest.

Maxwell was named the Fog’s best for a third consecutive outing while Siena Rumoro made it two-from-two.

Danica Pedersen and Farrell picked up some honours in their respective EDFL and Moonee Valley debuts.

Yet again, Strathmore captain Eloise Egglestone was named as the Mores’ best while Flavia Rajapakse was named the Doutta Galla Hotel Player of the Match.

Strathmore hits the road for the third time in five rounds when it travels to Aberfeldie Park for next weekend’s contest with the Two Blues.

Moonee Valley returns to Ormond Park on Saturday to welcome the undefeated Caroline Springs.

AVONDALE HEIGHTS 14.15 (99) def. RUPERTSWOOD 11.7 (73)
MATCH CENTRE

Avondale Heights banked its third win of the season with a comfortable 26-point win over Rupertswood.

The win sees the Heights move into third spot on the ladder with three wins and just the one blemish to their record.

While for Rupertswood, it’s a fourth consecutive loss to start 2026 in a far from ideal start to their season.

After an even first half of footy which saw the Heights take a gettable three-goal lead into the main break, the hosts flexed their muscles in the third term with a five-goal-to-one quarter of football.

With Rupo trailing by 47 points at three-quarter time, they managed to peg back the deficit to its final total of 26 points after a positive six-goal-to-two final quarter.

Despite their credible fight, Rupo were unable to overhaul the Heights who really stepped on the accelerator in the third quarter.

Nathan Foster had a day to remember with seven goals to his name, while big man Tom Russell also slotted three.

Meanwhile for Rupo, Jackson Cardillo continues to put his best forward with another solid outing here.

Avondale Heights will travel to DS Aitken Reserve next week in what will be a real test against an in-form Craigieburn side, while Rupertswood will be hoping to secure its first points of the season when it hosts Moonee Valley.

TAYLORS LAKES 9.10 (64) def. by ST ALBANS 11.12 (78)
MATCH CENTRE

St Albans has shocked an undermanned Taylors Lakes with a season-defining 14-point road win.

The Saints, who came into this bout with just the singular win over East Keilor to their record, produced their best performance of the year so far in a come-from-behind effort that could shape the rest of their season.

Taylors Lakes skipped out to a three-goal lead at the first change of ends and looked to be in cruise control.

Yet a four-goal-to-two second term from the Saints rejuvenated their chances in this bout and it proved to be a contest from then on out.

They couldn’t be split in the third quarter, but a five-goal effort from the Saints in the final term saw them march away from the Lion’s Den with a 14-point scalp.

The loss sees the Lions fall to 1-3 to start the year, and they desperately need to recapture some of their best form with Tullamarine and Craigieburn to come into the next fortnight.

Daniel Younan kicked three goals for Lions in what was ultimately a disappointing result.

While on the other side of the ledger, Jake Galea was among a handful of Saints to hit the scoreboard in consecutive ways with two goals to his name.

Galea’s impact around the ground was pivotal in the Saints' fightback all day.

St Albans will have to raise the bar again next when it travels to Coburg City Oval to take on West Coburg, while it gets no easier for Taylors Lakes as it comes up against Tullamarine.

MOONEE VALLEY 26.14 (170) def. EAST KEILOR 2.8 (20)
MATCH CENTRE

Moonee Valley has gone on with its hot start to 2026 with an effortless 150-point demolition job of East Keilor at Ormond Park.

A showcase from start to finish, the Fog dominated from the get-go to add a significant amount of percentage to the record.

With a five-goal lead heading into the second half, they tightened the screws and churned out an impressive 19-goal second half to run away as overwhelming winners.

Twelve individual goal-kickers for the match was evidence of the chemistry and connection that the Fog have rediscovered this season.

Of particular mentions are Mitch Clarke, who continued his blistering to the year with a bag of seven goals, and youngster Christian Russo, who kicked two of his own on senior debut.

It was another disappointing day for East Keilor as the pressure mounts week after week.

Four consecutive losses seem them languishing at the bottom of the ladder with a steep ladder to climb.

The Valley will hit the road next week to take on Rupertswood in an intriguing clash at Salesian College, while East Keilor will host Oak Park.

WEST COBURG 12.9 (81) def. TULLAMARINE 7.15 (57)
MATCH CENTRE

West Coburg has silenced the up-and-coming Tullamarine for the moment with a gritty 24-point win out at Jacana Reserve.

In a game consistent with momentum swings, it was the Dees who pinged the gates early to hold a slight advantage at the first break in play.

With a better effort required in the second quarter, the Burgers went to work and did some damage on the scoreboard with five unanswered goals.

Tullamarine weas able to peg the margin back ever so slightly to 14 points at three-quarter time, but with the game in the balance, the Burgers' class shone through as late goals to Muhammed Saad and Marcus Prosperi-Porta sealed the win.

Ruairi Cleary put his best foot forward for best on ground honours with a dominant display, while Jesse Martini continued to hit the scoreboard with another three goals.

For the Dees, great confidence should be taken away from this clash as they continue to show improvement from week to week.

Keegan Redecki was a strong contributor on the day, as well as Ethan Berger who slotted two.

West Coburg is back at Coburg City Oval next week to host St Albans, while Tullamarine will be looking to bounce back against Taylors Lakes.

OAK PARK 13.11 (89) def. CRAIGIEBURN 12.7 (79)
MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park has come from behind to outlast Craigieburn in a thrilling twilight clash at JP Fawkner Reserve.

In what was an important win for the Roos, a brilliant final quarter of football saw them deal the Eagles their first loss of the season and bring the two clubs level on three wins each to start 2026.

An incredibly even first half of footy saw the Eagles take a slender five-point lead into the main break in play.

The guests continued to match it with the Roos and produced another excellent quarter to ever-so-slightly extend their lead out to seven points at the final break.

However, Oak Park worked through the gears to produce four goals to two in the final term to overrun what would have no doubt been a disappointed Eagles brigade.

Kane O’Halloran and Errol McConnell kicked two massive last quarter goals to help get their side over the line, with O’Halloran slotting three for the day.

Likewise, defender Lachy Stredwick was pivotal in the win after another impressive, repelling performance down back.

For the Eagles, Brodie White was important with three majors to his name, while Blake Polley was a strong contributor as well in his best game for the season to date.

Oak Park will look to build some momentum when it takes on the winless East Keilor next week, while Craigieburn is set for what’s shaping to be a mouth-watering clash against Avondale Heights.

COBURG DISTRICTS 3.11 (29) def. by GISBORNE 4.7 (31)
MATCH CENTRE

Gisborne has held on in a thriller against Coburg Districts by two points at Cole Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs had a slow start but slowly found their way in front in the second term and held their nerve for the rest of the match to get over the line.

The Lions pressed all afternoon but just could not buy themselves a major, finishing with 3.11 at the games end.

Goal scorers Mariam Khoder and Sarah Docherty, and teammates Renae Berry and Laura Hammer were seen as the best for Coburg Districts.

For Gisborne, Maisy Crowther, Amy O’Kelly, Marie Napoli, Kirrily Mitchell, Jenna Hubbard, and Kaitlynn Paterson were all highly influential in the win.

Both sides will have the week off next weekend, and the Lions will next head to Willowbrook Reserve to take on Westmeadows, while Gisborne will wish to continue their winning form when they come up against Keilor Park.

SUNBURY LIONS 2.1 (13) def. by CRAIGIEBURN 5.13 (43)
MATCH CENTRE

Classy Craigieburn’s undefeated run continues after a dominant performance over the Sunbury Lions by 30 points at Clarke Oval.

The Eagles had a powerful first three quarters and led by as many as 25 points at the final break.

The scoreboard could have been much worse, with wayward kicking halting their momentum across the match. It was a different story for the hosts who had a challenging afternoon.

The Lions only had one goal to three quarter time, but a late final term goal put some scoreboard respectability for Sunbury.

Kaylee Allen and Indyana Simpson kicked two and three goals respectively and were the lone goal kickers in the victory for the visitors.

On the other hand, Keeley Wicks, Karla Tentonello, Tayla Wilson, Mikayla Francis, and Jorja McKenna helped the game not get out of hand for the Sunbury Lions.

As all sides in this competition who played on the weekend, they will have a stint for a week with the Eagles next hosting Burnside Heights, and the Sunbury Lions next meeting Roxburgh at Clarke Oval in a couple of weeks time.

EAST SUNBURY 4.9 (33) def. by TULLAMARINE 6.4 (40)
MATCH CENTRE

The weekend wrapped up with a come-from-behind victory in Tullamarine’s last quarter comeback against East Sunbury on the road by seven points.

The Demons got off to a slow start and were scoreless at the first change, but a strong second term gave them the lead at the main break.

East Sunbury owned the third quarter and made the game look out of reach for the visitors.

Three last quarter goals from the Demons gave them their first win of the season and a strong building block for their 2026 campaign.

Ruby Taranto kicked a couple of majors for the home side, but the best player honours were given to Mariam Habib, Sophia Iosifidis, Cara Clarke, Jacinta Lee, Jennifer Stevenson, and Chantelle Harding for East Sunbury.

Skipper Charlotte Jackson, Anais Lipski, Marianna Shiba, Kayla Peake, Summa Blackburn, and Emily Angelidis were crucial in Tullamarine’s best performance to this point of the season.

East Sunbury will look respond in a fortnight’s time when they face the winless Taylors Lakes back at home at John McMahon Recreation Reserve.

While Tullamarine will look to make it back-to-back wins at Leo Dineen Reserve against the Sunbury Kangaroos that afternoon.

The win makes it two in a row for Keilor Park as it re-joins the chasing pack, sitting percentage behind the Kangaroos.

The Devils started strongly with four goals to one in the opening term, as they kept the Kangaroos at that distance for much of the contest.
