Aberfeldie has edged one step closer to locking in a finals appearance after defeating Essendon Doutta Stars by 11 points at Clifton Park.
The win means the Rillas are a game and percentage clear in fourth and will need just one win in the final fortnight to cement their spot.
Despite putting in a strong showing, the Stars still remain on edge and are equal on points with Marby, however are still sitting inside the top five on percentage.
The Rillas started strong with four goals in the first term however they couldn’t put the visitors away and held just an eight-point lead at quarter time.
The margin remained that way at half time before the stalemate continued in the third quarter.
With the game in the balance, the Abers defence held firm and kept Douttas goalless for the term, which proved to be enough to come away with an 11-point victory.
Coach Leigh Tudor said, “(It was a) great game, really tough contest, both sides competed hard.
“Our defensive pressure and effective tackles were a highlight.”
Jackson Barber capitalised on his opportunities up forward and booted three goals, while Matt Williamson and Ben Parker were very good again.
Bailey Ryan was back to his best with three majors, while Dylan Laurie and Dec Willmore both continued their strong seasons.
Abers will be hoping to lock away fourth spot when it takes on Greenvale at Section Road, while Douttas will meet with Pascoe Vale at Nipper Jordan Oval.

Airport West has given its chances of survival a huge boost, defeating Greenvale in a three-point classic at Hansen Reserve.
The win is the Eagles' third victory for the season and moves them above Greenvale with only two rounds left to play.
Despite showing signs of improvement across the last month and leading for most of the day, the Jets ultimately weren’t good enough for long enough and could pay the ultimate price.
Greenvale got off to the perfect start, kicking five goals in the first quarter and went into the break with a 12-point lead.
The margin was extended to 23 points at the main break after the visitors piled on another five goals for the quarter.
With its season hanging by a thread, Airport West found the response it was looking for with a five-goal quarter handing them a four-point lead at the final change.
The game was on a knife’s edge to start the final term, and Greenvale took the lead before Airport West clicked into gear with three quick goals to blow the margin out to 15 points.
The Jets weren’t finished there with two late goals cutting the margin back to five points at the 20-minute mark of the final quarter.
Greenvale had two chances late to take back the lead, however were ultimately denied and after a frantic few final minutes, Airport West held on to claim a famous victory.
Ned Gentile was the star of the show, booting three goals and put in a match winning spoil late, while Giacomo Thomas was excellent with four goals.
Matt Gook, Corey Barbaro, Ben Bozinovski, Daniel Sinnott, and Kai Daniels were all instrumental in the comeback.
Jacob Thompson stood tall for the Jets kicking three goals, while Sam Zumbo and Liam Podhajski did everything they could.
Airport West will be looking to claim ninth spot when it hosts Deer Park, while Greenvale will take on Aberfeldie at Section Road.

Strathmore has moved one step closer to claiming the minor premiership, defeating Hillside by 63 points at Shark Park.
The win means the Mores are a game and percentage clear of Keilor and will only need one win from its last two matches to sit out the first week of the finals.
Despite being well beaten, the Sharks showed signs of improvement from the last time they played the reigning premiers and is something they can carry forward into 2027.
Strathmore started strongly with five goals in the opening quarter before backing it up with a three-goal second term, providing a seven-goal lead at the main break.
A seven-goal quarter to the Mores put the result well and truly beyond doubt, however the Sharks did show plenty of fight in the final quarter with five goals cutting the margin to 63 points.
Corey Grindlay took his season tally to 45 goals after a bag of four, while Trent Dumont and Lachlan Plant were excellent in the midfield.
James McNaughton made the most of his opportunities kicking three goals, while Jackson McMenamin and Khalil Kaakour fought hard all day.
Strathmore will be hoping to sew up the minor premiership when it hosts Marby, while Hillside will take on Keilor at Joe Brown Oval.
DEER PARK 10.10 (70) def. by PASCOE VALE 12.11 (83)

Pascoe Vale has secured the double chance for the third time in four seasons after defeating Deer Park by 13 points at John McLeod Reserve.
The win maintains the Panthers' two-game buffer over Aberfeldie, however they remain two games behind Keilor.
Saturday’s match was another strong performance for the Lions, however this time they ultimately weren’t good enough to come away with the four points.
Pascoe Vale got off to the perfect start, booting six goals to open up a 28-point quarter time lead.
The Lions cut Pascoe Vale’s lead to 15 points at quarter time, however a three-goal third quarter for the visitors meant the margin was back out to 24 points by three quarter time.
With the breeze against them, the Panthers held firm in the final quarter and kept Deer Park to just two goals which was enough to secure a 13-point victory.
Dante Colosimo and Brandon Newton combined for six goals, while Tyson Scoble was very good again.
Jackson Barling continued his strong year in front of goal booting another three majors, while Luke Scicchitano and Anthony Anastasio continued their strong seasons.
Pascoe Vale will be hoping to make it three in a row when it takes on Douttas at Nipper Jordan Oval, while Deer Park will meet with Airport West at Hansen Reserve.
MARIBYRNONG PARK 12.5 (77) def. by KEILOR 16.12 (108)

Keilor has put a dent into Marby’s final hopes, defeating the Lions by 31 points at Monk Oval.
The win means the Blues are still a slight chance of taking away the minor premiership, however they remain a game and percentage behind the Mores.
Despite putting in a respectable performance, Marby remains outside the top five but are equal on points with Douttas with two rounds left to play.
Keilor got the jump on the home side booting five goals for the term and went into the first change with a 23-point lead.
The margin was cut to just three points at half time with Marby kicking six goals for the quarter.
Keilor bounced back after half time with a five-goal quarter opening up a 17-point lead at the final change.
With the wind in their favour, Marby couldn’t capitalise on it and the Blues continued their dominance with a three-goal final quarter enough to seal the win.
Coach Mick McGuane praised his side’s ability to turn things around after half time, especially their workaround clearance, contest, and territory.
Nick O’Kearney was terrific in his 100th game of senior footy, while Tom McGuane and Will Burke were very good again.
Scott Clarke continues to show his class with another three goals, while Jack Gerardi and Josh Cole both put in strong performances.
Marby will be hoping to keep its season alive when it takes on Strathmore at Lebanon Reserve, while Keilor will host Hillside.

Aberfeldie has claimed the minor premiership after an emphatic victory over Keilor at Joe Brown Oval.
The result sees the Two Blues clinch the double chance, with an electrifying qualifying final against Oak Park set for next week.
Mo Hope, Erica Markesich, and Emily Smith slotted three goals apiece. The big day of scoring sees Hope take out the division’s goalkicking competition with 39 majors, finishing ahead of teammate Smith (35).
Meg Ginnivan and Chloe Rafferty scored twice for the Two Blues, while Lara Churchill’s scoreboard attack returned with one goal.
Elizabeth Woerndle and Jasmine Ferbrache were named as some of Aberfeldie’s best-on.
After sixteen weeks, the curtain closes on what has been a challenging year for Keilor.
While it’s been a winless season for the Blues, Keilor gave season 2026 its all.
In her only EDFL appearance for 2026, Chelsea McDermott was named Keilor’s best on Saturday.
McDermott was joined by Tahlia Psaila, Emilly O’Keefe, and Sophie Cameron as being named some of the best-on.
Olivia Castello also picked up a tenth best player honour for the season, with the nominee for July’s Fernwood Fitness Women’s Player of the Month a standout in all 14 of her appearances.
Attention now turns to Cole Reserve for Saturday’s qualifying final against Oak Park for the Two Blues, a side who got the better of them in Round 12.
ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 7.10 (52) def. HILLSIDE 0.1 (1)

Essendon Doutta Stars has booked its spot in the 2026 Airport Toyota Premier Division finals series following a 51-point stroll over the Sharks at Nipper Jordan Oval.
It was one-way traffic on Saturday, with the Stars shrugging off Hillside to bounce back from last weekend's 11-point loss to Oak Park.
In a subdued first quarter, Jade Cilia put the Stars on the board with the term’s only scoreboard action.
A spark was then lit in the Stars camp, with the navy blue and gold unleashing Camryn Bux and Mia Tully for some second quarter scoring.
With a 20-point buffer in the hands of Douttas at the main break, the side would then return to the field to boot a further 4.8 (32).
Named the side’s best-on, Bux brought up another major in the second half. Ada Pizzinga also secured two.
Stephanie Mitchell also joined in on the action with a goal of her own.
After a thrilling win over the Fog last weekend, Hillside was held to just one behind on Saturday.
It’s been a rough campaign for last years’ premiers, with the Sharks finishing 2026 on the ladder’s eighth rung with a 3-11 record.
Hannah Ibrahim, Paula Pavic, Caitlin Sargent, Yarra Taylor, Krissy Trang, and Annalise Wilkie all concluded their fine seasons with best-on honours.
Attention now turns to refinement ahead of season 2027 for the Sharks.
The Stars will look ahead to next weekend’s elimination final against Strathmore at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve.

Oak Park has secured the all-important double chance following a finals-worthy performance over Moonee Valley at Ormond Park.
In blustery conditions over at the Valley, the Kangaroos put on a clinic to conclude the regular season inside the top two.
After some immense defence from Moonee Valley saw the Roos held goalless at the first change, Oak Park broke through the chains and dominated from thereon.
Holly McGregor was a jet in the ruck, across the ground, and in front of goal, finishing the afternoon with two majors.
Alexi Kasteliotis, Sasha Nelson, and Meghan Patrick were all also an impactful bunch with two apiece.
Emily Findlay, Terira Fry, Ellie Huggard, and Felicity Theodore all found one.
It was smooth sailing for the Roos, with Oak Park demonstrating a much more fast, physical, and polished brand of footy.
Moonee Valley was challenged in its final contest for the season but maintained a never-give-up attitude.
While things started to pile up on the scoreboard, the Fog maintained their cool, throwing themselves down in the last line of defence to prevent as many Kangaroos’ scores as possible.
Chaylee Reeve, Jayda Young, and Rhiannon Busch were some of Moonee Valley’s finest in defence.
Named at the top of the best players list was Busch, with Nadia Valenti, Siena Rumoro, and Jayda Young also closing off their seasons in style.
Moonee Valley concludes season 2026 on sixth with a commendable 6-8 record.
Oak Park will face Aberfeldie in the qualifying final at Cole Reserve on Saturday.
MARIBYRNONG PARK 4.9 (33) def. by CAROLINE SPRINGS 5.6 (36)

Caroline Springs capped off its season with a three-point win over Maribyrnong Park at Walsh Oval.
With the Lakers still a sniff at finals qualification, it was shaping as a must-win for the EDFL’s newest top flight side.
It was a tight contest all afternoon, with the Lakers narrowly holding charge over the Lions by just three and four points at the opening two breaks respectively.
Following a 2.3 (15) to 1.2 (8) third term, Caroline Springs extended its grip on the contest with an 11-point margin at the final break.
But the Lakers would face one last scare in the final quarter: being held scoreless and conceding 1.2 (8).
The spirited final-quarter resurgence wasn’t enough to send the Lions over the line come the final siren.
Alongside Jessie Kazazes and Darcie Robinson, Ava Steel was named Marby’s best in the contest.
Tegan Matthews led the scoring charge with two, while Kylie Guarino and Montana Kerr both carved out one goal each.
After escaping relegation last year, Maribyrnong Park concludes the season seventh with a 5-9 record.
Despite taking the win, Caroline Springs will miss out on the finals series due to Essendon Doutta Stars’ victory over Hillside.
Sharni Currie and Jacinta Kondis concluded their impressive seasons with two goals apiece.
Ebony Stevens returned to the scoresheet with one lone goal on Saturday.
Alyssa De Bono and Brodie Stevens were declared the Lakers’ best.
Missing out on the finals by percentage alone, Caroline Springs’ inaugural season in the EDFL women’s top flight has certainly been an outstanding one.
Both the Lions and the Lakers will now watch from the sidelines before preparations begin for 2027 later this year.

AVONDALE HEIGHTS 5.13 (43) def. by MOONEE VALLEY 15.13 (103)
MATCH CENTRE
Moonee Valley drew away from a plucky Avondale Heights in a dominant second half to record an important 60-point win.
The win sees them remain at equal top of the ladder on points, but in third in the standings on percentage.
With a double chance there for the taking, the Valley can sniff a top three position.
After a dominant first quarter in which the Valley piled on five goals to nil, the Heights responded in the second with three majors of their own, to just the one from the Valley.
A three-goal buffer at half time for the guests kept the Heights to within a sniff of an upset result.
But all signs of said upset were quickly swept away as the Valley went on to produce a scintillating second half of football.
Nine second-half goals to two saw the margin balloon out to 10 goals come the final siren, with the Valley securing a pivotal win for their season.
Vice-captain Nathan Williams was outstanding in the win, while last week’s hero Lachlan Grant was good again.
Mitch Clarke also shined up forward once more with another log of four goals to his name.
For the Heights, while a promising first half quickly eventuated into disappointment, they have the opportunity in the final round of the season next week to end their season on a high and build some momentum heading into the upcoming pre-season.
Usual performers Bailey Williamson and Brad Robb battled hard all day.
Moonee Valley will host Tullamarine next week, while Avondale Heights will hit the road for the final time to take on Taylors Lakes.
OAK PARK 27.16 (178) def. TAYLORS LAKES 4.4 (28)

Oak Park took care of Taylors Lakes to the tune of 150 points at JP Fawkner Reserve.
In an important percentage boost for their minor premiership hopes, the Roos were far too classy for the Lions here and had complete control over the match for its entirety.
Fifteen goals to just the Lions' three in the first half all but sealed the deal for the Roos, who came ready to play with no intention of taking their foot off the throttle.
Another avalanche of 12 goals in the second half saw the margin rocket out to 150 points by game's end.
With bigger fish to fry in the coming weeks, Oak Park’s offensive game is in full-flight at the perfect time of the year.
Paul Pascu dominated from start to finish and had an array of contributors who ensured the margin kept mounting up.
One of these was Adam Del Busso.
Del Busso slotted 10 goals in an incredible date with the goals that saw his season tally tick over to 45 majors for the year.
For Taylors Lakes, they were simply no match here for the firing Roos.
As their season approaches it’s cessation, their win loss record of five wins and 12 losses to date has been a considerable step back from last year, where they just missed out on finals footy after recording eight victories.
Oak Park will remain at home next week for its final bout with St Albans, while Taylors Lakes hosts Avondale Heights.
ST ALBANS 7.8 (50) def. by CRAIGIEBURN 19.22 (136)

Craigieburn put in an impressive shift with an emphatic 86-point win over St Albans.
The Eagles were in command for the entirety of the afternoon, and after jumping out of the barriers with nine goals to two in the first quarter, they never looked like losing.
Joshua Collins starred for the Eagles with four goals, while Hayden Polley and Brenton Cox were excellent again.
For the Saints, Mason Dipetta was electric in bagging four of his side’s seven goals in what was ultimately a disappointing afternoon.
Craigieburn will face off against West Coburg next week in a pivotal double-chance decider at DS Aitken Reserve, while St Albans will play Oak Park.
TULLAMARINE 9.13 (67) def. by RUPERTSWOOD 13.9 (87)
MATCH CENTRE
Rupertswood dealt Tullamarine a harsh blow after taking down the finals bound Dees with a brilliant fourth quarter rally to record a fourth win of the season.
After the Dees pounced out of the blocks early with 10 scoring shots to one in the opening quarter, Rupo regathered themselves and charged right back into contention with a dominant second quarter.
With just two points separating the sides at half time, a fierce second half was highly anticipated, and it certainly delivered.
The wind-assisted Tullamarine came out in the third quarter and topped up their lead by two goals, but failed to put away Rupo who were proving to stick around.
Rupo made the Dees pay, and come out all guns blazing in the fourth quarter with a rush of six goals to one to steal a memorable road victory.
In just their fourth win for the season, it’s a perfect springboard for Rupo to launch into another extremely winnable game next week.
Sean Hearthington was excellent on return, while Mitch Johnson did the damage up forward with a bag of five goals.
On the other side of the ledger, a lacklustre performance from the Dees simply cannot repeat itself next week, given the timeliness of the upcoming finals series.
Vice-captain Salvatore Melilli was excellent for the defeated Dees with four majors to his name.
Rupertswood will return to Salesian College for the final time next week for their clash with East Keilor, while Tullamarine venture to Ormond Park to face Moonee Valley.
EAST KEILOR 3.5 (23) def. by WEST COBURG 38.21 (249)

It was a demolition job at Overland Reserve as West Coburg obliterated East Keilor by 226 points in a monstrous performance.
A symmetric performance of 19 first half goals backed up with another 19 in the second half has the Burgers on song and cherry ripe for their premiership tilt.
An incredible day for the goal-kickers, Ibby Taha had a monstrous day out with a sack of 11 goals, while Jesse Martini and Damian Galofaro kicked six, and Liam Bowkett slotted five.
Sitting on top of the ladder with 14 wins and a percentage just north of 200, one would think that the race for the minor premiership would be all but over.
But, in one of the closest and most even years the Division One competition has ever seen, there are four sides sitting on the same number of points at the top of the ladder, with one round to go.
With a top-four blockbuster quickly approaching the Burgers this week, their season rests on one final win.
West Coburg will travel for their final game in a must-win clash against Craigieburn, while East Keilor plays Rupertswood.

WESTMEADOWS 6.7 (43) def. BURNSIDE HEIGHTS 5.7 (37)

Westmeadows defeated Burnside Heights at Lionheart Reserve in a six-point thriller to book the first spot in the Airport Toyota Division One grand final.
The Bears blew out of the blocks early, kicking two goals and five behinds in the first quarter with the Tigers only able to add the solitary behind.
The Tigers responded in the second term, adding two goals by Courteney Munn and one goal by Jameson Best. The Bears could only add a single goal.
The Bears regained the momentum in the third term, kicking another two goals.
It was 37 to 22 in the Bear’s favour at three quarter time with a first loss looming for the undefeated Tigers.
Miraculously, the Tigers were able to add three goals with two kicked by Courtney Bligh and one by Munn.
With three goals and a further four behinds, the Tigers had come from the jaws of defeat to snatch victory away from the Bears.
Munn starred in the forward half for the day kicking three goals, while captain Bligh also added a couple of goals.
Around the ground, Madison Shaw-Barton dominated alongside Sophi Georgantonis.
For the Bears, both Tonja Davis and Aarzu Mavi had strong outings in what was ultimately a strong team performance.
They will need to move on from their disappointment quickly as a preliminary final date with Keilor Park awaits.
The Tigers, meanwhile, are grand final bound with their perfect record intact.
CRAIGIEBURN 1.6 (12) def. by KEILOR PARK 4.8 (32)

Keilor Park surged home for a 20-point win over Craigieburn in the elimination final at Martin Reserve.
The margin remained close for the match before two unanswered Devils goals in the final quarter pushed the margin out to 20 points.
Keilor Park had four individual goal kickers including Antonietta Parisi, Georgia O’Donovan, Georgia Cassar, and Sophie Shaw.
The Eagles will rue their inaccuracy in front of goals, as their six behinds removed any chance of taking a strong position in the contest.
The best players for the Eagles included Maddison Albrecht and Teegan Natoli, who both provided run and dare.
For the victors, Antonietta Parisi continued her excellent form of the season, alongside Ella Grant-Campbell.
Parisi was named the Doutta Galla Hotel player of the match and made a good day great after spinning up the $400 major prize.
Keilor Park will now play against Burnside Heights at Merrifield Recreation Reserve in the preliminary final to cement the second grand final spot.

Northern Saints has knocked off Burnside Heights by 36 points in a comprehensive win at Charles Mutton Reserve.
The Saints got the jump in the first half, kicking eight of the first 10 goals which put the game to bed early in the piece of Saturday afternoon.
The third term was all full of Saints dominance with a monster lead of 61 points heading into the last change.
A last quarter fightback from the Bears cut the margin but was not enough to get over the line on Saturday afternoon.
Saints captain Anthony Petrocco had a big afternoon, alongside Mohamed Taleb who continues his strong 2026 form with both players receiving best player mentions.
Aaron Finlay and Antonio Vitalone were both regarded as the best for the Bears on Saturday.
Northern Saints is set to face East Sunbury next weekend, while Burnside Heights will play Glenroy in what will be its final match of season 2026.
COBURG DISTRICTS 12.9 (81) def. WESTMEADOWS 11.7 (73)
MATCH CENTRE
Coburg Districts has edged itself over the line by eight points to keep its undefeated streak alive against Westmeadows at Cole Reserve.
Districts were on the back foot throughout the first half and were down at the long break with the Tigers eyeing off a finals spot.
The Lions got back ahead by one point at the final change after kicking three goals to one.
Westmeadows kicked two of the first three goals to lead late int he game, before the Lions kicked two late goals to take the win.
Ali Saad and Riley Bentley were once again the best on ground for the Districts, with Saad's three goals critical.
Shaun O'Grady's four goals and Adrian Alfonsi’s three goals helped give the visitors a chance.
Coburg Districts will next meet with Roxburgh Park at Lakeside Reserve, while Westmeadows will host the Sunbury Kangaroos in a must-win contest.
SUNBURY KANGAROOS 13.9 (87) def. by HADFIELD 16.14 (110)

Hadfield has booked its spot in finals action following a 23-point win over Sunbury Kangaroos at Eric Boardman Reserve.
The win moves the Hawks two games clear inside the top four with one game to play, with finals footy on the cards for the first time since their 2015 premiership.
Challenging conditions saw the game ebb and flow, however the Hawks were able to maintain reasonable separation throughout the contest.
Hadfield kicked six goals in the third quarter and held the Kangaroos scoreless to make a fourth-quarter comeback difficult, and ultimately unattainable.
Mohammed Moustafa was crucial again with seven majors taking his season tally to 54 goals from just 14 games.
Josh Trembearth added two goals in a best-on-ground display, with Samir Mohamad (two goals) and Lachlan McKean strong contributors.
Mitch Streiff did the scoring for the Kangaroos with four goals, while Shawn Bowden, Rhys Magin, and Ryan Pretty each added two.
Declan Corcoran and Josh Nanninga were named their best.
The loss makes it season over for the Kangaroos in what was a commendable season, a strong second half of the year showing incredibly positive signs.
The Kangaroos will face Westmeadows at Willowbrook Reserve next week, while Hadfield will host Keilor Park.

Roxburgh Park has moved into the top four with a 29-point victory over East Sunbury at John McMahon Recreation Reserve.
The Magpies started strongly with five unanswered goals in the first quarter and kept the Thunder scoreless.
East Sunbury inevitably enjoyed the favourable conditions in the second quarter, but could only peg the half time deficit back to 22 points.
No further inroads were made with both sides trading the advantage resulting in a solid Magpies victory.
Eyad Hegazy continued his fine season in front of goal woth four majors, while Travis Cooke (three goals) and Amos Potter (two goals) were solid.
Jordan O'Dwyer and Tom Baker were named the best for Roxy in the important win.
The Magpies are a game clear in fourth and in control of their destiny, however Coburg Districts is to come at Lakeside Reserve.
Roxburgh Park will play finals if it wins and hands the Lions their first loss.
If it loses, the Magpies will be hoping Sunbury Kangaroos can defeat Westmeadows.
East Sunbury, meanwhile, will finish its season at Charles Mutton Reserve against Northern Saints.

Glenroy put on a clinic at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve over a lacklustre Keilor Park by 108 points.
The Roys have had a strong 2026 campaign and have proved why they are premiership contenders after another huge win away from home.
