Aberfeldie and Strathmore will set their sights on Lebanon reserve, with the two powerhouses to meet in the annual King’s Birthday clash.

The two sides will contest the Alistair Butcher-Geoff Brown cup at Lebanon Reserve after the clash was moved from Windy Hill.

It’s been a faultless first eight weeks for Matthew Horne’s men with the side still unbeaten and their last loss coming in Round 18 last year against Aberfeldie.

It’s been an indifferent start to 2026 for Abers with the side recording brilliant wins over Keilor and Marby, however were upset by Hillside and Essendon Doutta Stars.

These two sides met three times in 2025, with Aberfeldie winning the first two by 22 and 28 points, before Strathmore won the all-important qualifying final by 55 points.

A win on Saturday for Leigh Tudor’s men would move them to equal second on the ladder, however a loss could put them in danger of being jumped by Douttas.

One to look out for on Saturday will be Jack Middleton.

In his first match since Round 2, the 25-year-old finished with 33 hit outs and three goals against Greenvale last weekend.

Crucially, in last year’s King’s Birthday clash, the ruck collected 23 hit outs and 10 clearances on his way to claiming best on ground in the come-from-behind win.

Strathmore has been strong in the ruck in 2026, ranking first for hit outs with Sam Hayes leading the way, however they’ll need to be at their best if they want to make it 12 wins in a row.
