Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Thursday June 15, 2023

Presented by Airport Toyota

Kicking off the action in the top flight is a top-of-the-table clash between Aberfeldie and Oak Park.

Abers are undefeated while the Kangaroos come in with just the one loss which they suffered in this fixture in Round 1.

It was just two points that day with both teams looking a little different since then.

EDFL Match of the Day should be treated to an absolute belter!

Maribyrnong Park and Strathmore will each have a chance to get back on the winner’s list when they face off at Walsh Oval.

Marby find themselves just out of the top four on percentage, while Strathmore are yet to get a win since their Round 1 upset over Keilor.

The last time these two met, Marby held on to a six-point victory after holding the Mores to just one goal in the second half.

Westmeadows will be hoping for a better showing against Moonee Valley when they host them at Willowbrook Reserve.

The last time these two met resulted in a blowout 91-point victory for the Fog who currently sit third on the ladder with two games clear to fourth.

Westy have managed two wins from their last three outings to show improvement on their slow start to the season.

Scoring remains an issue however, so they’ll face a tough task to make it three from four.

Keilor were able to steady the ship with a strong win last time out to halt a string of losses, and will have an opportunity to kick on when they face Hillside in a twilight contest at Shark Park.

The Sharks sit just one win behind Keilor, but are ranked last for scoring which Keilor will no doubt look to exploit after piling on 72 points in their last match.

A battle for outright second place awaits Burnside Heights and Essendon Doutta Stars at Tenterfield Drive on Saturday morning.

Douttas took care of business last time they met with a convincing 58-point victory at Buckley Park.

Jessie Hulett kicked four that day for Douttas with Kiara Jones named their best.

Gisborne will head to Jacana Reserve to take on Tullamarine with an opportunity to put some pressure on whoever loses the Bears and Douttas game.

A win would see Gisborne just one game behind third spot with a healthy percentage which could enable them to remain within arms reach of a second chance.

In the final game, Sunbury Lions will host Greenvale who are well and truly flying at the moment.

It’ll be a battle between the first sides in Division Two with Coburg Districts hosting Pascoe Vale, and Sunbury Kangaroos travelling to Airport West.

The home sides are sitting first and second with Airport West looking faultless at the moment, while Coburg Districts have been getting the job done.

Pascoe Vale and Sunbury Kangaroos have each enjoyed some success since dropping into the division, but will each have a tough task to find some wins.

Maribyrnong Park 2 will play Aberfeldie 2 at Walsh Oval who have found themselves in the top four with some impressive performances, including a four-goal win over Coburg Districts.

Marby 2 have lost four of their last five, including a loss to Pascoe Vale last week, so they’ll want to produce a more competitive showing this time out.

The final game will see Westmeadows 2 host Moonee Valley 2.

The last time these two met, it was just about a replica of the ones with the Fog winning by 96 points.
