Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Thursday June 1, 2023

Presented by Airport Toyota

There will be a pair of Good Friday rematches in the top flight with Oak Park hosting Hillside, and Strathmore hosting Keilor.

Oak Park were too strong in the end against Hillside and their seasons so far have followed reflective trajectories.

Hillside have managed two wins this season which came from back-to-back performances, while Oak Park sit second on the ladder with their one loss coming against the undefeated Aberfeldie outfit by just two points.

In the other Good Friday rematch, Strathmore downed the reigning premiers in a tight affair, but the Mores haven’t managed a win since.

Keilor on the other hand have lost four in a row and will be wanting to turn that around.

There’s plenty to strive towards for both Maribyrnong Park and Westmeadows when they meet at Monk Oval.

Marby will want to retain their spot in the top four and keep within striking distance of the top sides, while Westmeadows can push for top four aspirations.

The Lions have been more efficient at both ends of the ground than the Tigers, but Westy were able to get the better of Marby in their last meeting.

Aberfeldie have been the pacesetters of this competition but will be wanting to be dethroned by Moonee Valley who are currently two games behind them on the ladder.

Very little separates them in terms of scoring, but the Fog concedes more than double the score that Aberfeldie does.

There will be just two games in Division One this weekend with Essendon Doutta Stars receiving the forfeit victory against Sunbury Lions.

Greenvale and Gisborne will battle at the wide expanses of Section Road.

It’ll be a forward battle between Alisa Magri and Charlotte Noonan (if she returns) with the pair deadlocked at 28 goals apiece.

The Jets comfortably took care of business in their last matchup with a 61-point victory.

In the other game, Burnside Heights will play Tullamarine in a twilight fixture at Tenterfield Drive.

Tulla got their first win on the board last week with a nine-goal victory over Sunbury Lions, but will face stiff opposition in their attempt to make it two in a row.

The Bears sit second on the ladder and were able to win by 11 goals in their Round 1 matchup at Jacana Reserve.

Sunbury Kangaroos and Westmeadows 2 will each have a chance to get their second win on the board when they play at Eric Boardman Reserve.

Very little separates the two sides in the way of scoring and defence and it’ll be their first meeting of the season.

Aberfeldie 2 are sitting second on the ladder and will play the dominant Airport West at Clifton Park.

Moonee Valley 2 and Coburg Districts will look to shape the top four come September and will face off on Saturday at Ormond Park.

Their last meeting ended in a five-point Coburg Districts win.

Maribyrnong Park 2 are currently two games out of the top four and will have a chance to reduce that differential when they play Pascoe Vale.
