The Essendon District Football League (EDFL) is pleased to announce that the members of Parkside Football Club and Ascot Vale Sports Club Inc. have passed special resolutions approving the merger of the two clubs' operations.
The respective Committees of both clubs have subsequently provided their final endorsement of the merger.
As part of this exciting development, Ascot Vale Sports Club Inc. will be renamed Parkside Ascot Vale Sports Club Inc. (PAVSC). From the commencement of the 2027 season, the club's open-age Men's and Women's teams competing in the EDFL will be operated by the senior division of PAVSC, while the junior and senior football programs will collectively trade as the Parkside Ascot Vale Panthers Football Club.
The EDFL congratulates both clubs on reaching this significant milestone and acknowledges the extensive planning, collaboration and commitment shown throughout the process. The League has worked closely with representatives from both clubs since the initial discussions commenced and appreciates the constructive and professional approach taken by all parties.
The merger positions the new entity to build a strong and sustainable future both on and off the field, while continuing to provide participation opportunities for players, members and supporters within the local community.
The EDFL looks forward to continuing to work with club officials as operational matters, including player registrations and administrative requirements, are finalised ahead of the 2027 season.
On behalf of the EDFL Board and Executive, we congratulate everyone involved and wish the Parkside Ascot Vale Panthers Football Club every success in this exciting new chapter.
