EDFL Men's Weekend Outlook - June 20, 2026

Presented by Community Bank Strathmore

Hillside will be looking to record consecutive wins for the first time in Premier Division when it takes on Greenvale at Shark Park.

Remarkably, the Sharks recorded their third win by one point for the season last week when they took down Marby at Monk Oval.

Mo Kaakour’s side now sit in eighth spot at the halfway point of the season and a win on Saturday would leave them 12 points clear of last.

Things haven’t got any easier for Greenvale with the side sitting in last spot on just four points.

There will be a sense of optimism for the Jets heading into Saturday’s clash with their only victory for the year coming against the Sharks in Round 3.

One for Greenvale to try and stop this weekend is Lucas Failli.

The midfielder has had an excellent season so far, averaging 20 disposals and five inside 50s a game.

In their last clash Failli had a day out finishing with 25 disposals and three goals, however it still wasn’t enough to get his side over the line.

Greenvale’s midfield will need to stop Hillside’s livewire if it is any chance of getting its season back on track.

Aberfeldie will be looking to stay inside the top five when it takes on Airport West at Hansen Reserve.

After a strong start to the year, Abers have received a setback in recent weeks with just one win from their last four.

It’s a similar story for Airport West who has won just the one match since Round 1 and has lost its last two matches by an average of 74 points.

These two teams last met in the annual Anzac Day clash at Clifton Park which Aberfeldie came away with a 72-point victory.

One to keep an eye on this Saturday is Nic Watson.

When these two sides last met the big man with 28 disposals and 12 clearances in a best-on-ground performance.

Airport West’s midfield does have plenty of weapons, however will need to stop Watson if it doesn’t want a repeat of Anzac Day.

Strathmore will be looking to strengthen its grip on top spot on the ladder when it takes on Deer Park at John McLeod Reserve.

The reigning premiers have won 12 games in a row dating back to last year’s qualifying final and have staved off all challenges in 2026.

A win for the Mores on Saturday could move Matthew Horne’s side three games clear on top of the ladder with Pascoe Vale and Keilor set to square off.

After making the finals last year it has been a disappointing first half of the year for Deer Park which has won just the three games against Greenvale, Hillside, and Airport West.

These two sides met back in Round 3 when Strathmore recorded a comprehensive 71-point victory.

If Deer Park is any chance of causing an upset, it’ll need to find an answer for Liam Cavanagh.

The defender has been unstoppable once again averaging 31 disposals and is firming as one of the favourites to take home the Reynolds Medal.

While it may seem unlikely, Deer Park has a number of potent forwards who could cause issues for Strathmore’s main man.

Essendon Doutta Stars will be hoping to solidify its spot inside the top five when it meets with Maribyrnong Park.

The Stars are one of the in-form teams across the competition having won five of their last six matches with their only defeat coming against Pascoe Vale.

A win for Douttas on Saturday would see them move two games and percentage clear of sixth and could move them equal on points with Keilor in third.

It’s been the complete opposite season for Marby who was sitting in second spot with four wins to open the season, however has gone on to lose their last six matches and is now sixth.

When these two sides last met, Brandon Ryan stole the show with seven goals and the Lions went on to win by 25 points.

For Douttas to win, they’ll be hoping Liam Mercieca’s strong form continues.

The ruck has hardly missed a beat in 2026, averaging 20 disposals and 27 hit outs a game.

Marby is ranked ninth for hitouts across the competition and will need to be competitive in the middle if it wants to stop Mercieca and end its losing streak.

Keilor will be looking to move inside the top two for the first time this season, when it takes on Pascoe Vale at Raeburn Reserve.

After a tough start to the year, the Blues have got their act together and have won their last five matches.

Pascoe Vale has also had a brilliant start to 2026 with four wins in a row and has only lost the two games for the year.

A win for Pascoe Vale would move them two games clear of Keilor and would keep the pressure on Strathmore, however Keilor could jump the Panthers with a comprehensive victory.

Earlier in the year, Keilor recorded its first win for the year after defeating the Panthers by 27 points.

One to keep an eye on this Saturday will be Jack Brown.

After playing VFL for the entirety of last year, the midfielder has been a handy inclusion for the Blues in 2026, averaging 30 disposals and eight clearances.

Pascoe Vale is ranked number one for contested possessions and clearances, however will need to be mindful of Keilor’s ball magnet if it wants to come away with the victory.

Craigieburn and Tullamarine will meet at DS Aitken Reserve as the second half of the men's season kicks off.

The Eagles sit in fourth spot and are coming off a come-from-behind 19-point win over St Albans last week.

The Demons, meanwhile, sit in fifth with a 53-point triumph over Rupertswood their latest result.

These sides last met in a scappy affair in Round 1 where Craigieburn emerged seven-point victors.

It was an evenly matched contest with the Eagles gaining narrow advantages in clearance and territory numbers.

Brodie White starred in that meeting and will be someone Tulla will keep an eye on with the ability to be damaging with ball in hand, while impacting the scoreboard.

Josh Covelli made his return for Tullamarine last week with seven goals, and will no doubt be a focal point for Eagles defenders after he kicked three of Tulla's five goals in the Round 1 meeting.

A win for Craigieburn will keep it in the double chance logjam pending other results, while a Tulla win will draw the Demons level on points with the Eagles.

Oak Park will be searching for three wins in a row when it welcomes Rupertswood to JP Fawkner Reserve.

The Kangaroos are coming off massive wins against St Albans and Taylors Lakes, sitting second on the ladder.

It's a 2-2 record for the eighth-placed Sharks from their last four games, a 53-point loss to Tullamarine their most recent outing.

The two sides last met in Round 1 where Oak Park won by 25 points.

It was a solid performance from Rupo with many of the stats no doubt pleasing coach Brad Fox, however Oak Park looks a different beast now.

The Kangaroos have had half a season under Luke Williams and have looked to click, with Jedd Taylor back in after missing a month of footy and Kane O'Halloran proving he's still among the elite goal kickers in this competition.

Rupertswood has been missing Daniel Kavanagh, Sean Hetherington, and Luke Sultana for a few weeks now, but were buoyed by the return of Ethan Fitzpatrick last week.

They'll hope to welcome back some key personnel, but the Kangaroos will still enter as favourites.

Moonee Valley will head to Kings Park Reserve to take on St Albans.

The Fog will be searching for four wins in a row and to remain in double chance territory, while the Saints are searching for a third win.

It was a much improved performance from St Albans last week despite the loss, but it's something for the side to carry into future games.

Moonee Valley won this matchup in Round 1 by 60 points in a high-scoring contest, Mitch Clarke and Hok Marial kicking five goals each for their sides.

The midfield bulls went at it, but it was the weight of numbers for Moonee Valley triumphing with Haidyn Shade, Callum Clinnick, and Nathan Williams prolific.

Josh Klaromenos' return was an important one last week for the Saints, with the classy left-footer racking up 33 disposals to go with 12 intercepts.

Can more join the likes of Klaromenos and Jake Galea to provide another strong performance?

Avondale Heights will head to Overland Reserve to take on local rival East Keilor.

The Heights sit two games out of the top five and will be looking to get back on the winner's list following a 31-point loss last week to Moonee Valley.

East Keilor is still looking for its first win after showing some improvement, but the Cougars were put to the sword by West Coburg last week.

It was a 122-point win for Avondale Heights when these sides met in Round 1, 17 goals to two in the second half blowing the margin out.

West Coburg and Taylors Lakes will meet at Tenterfield Drive to close out Round 10 action.

It'll be the second consecutive game at Cole Harvey's old home ground as he meets old mate Steve Burns again.

The Burgers have been dominant with seven wins in a row, scoring triple figures in five of those seven games.

The Lions have been struggling for much of the year, but it was a 138-point loss to Oak Park last time out that was no doubt tough to swallow.

These sides last met on Good Friday with West Coburg enjoying a solid win, Emilio Rinaudo starring with 24 disposals and two goals.

Rinaudo returned last week after not playing since Good Friday, adding to the top end of talent the Burgers boast.

Can Steve Burns ignite something in the playing group, or will West Coburg continue its winning ways?

Northern Saints will welcome Glenroy to Charles Mutton Reserve to kick off Round 10 action.

The Saints are still looking for their second win after a near-miss last week, a five-point loss to East Sunbury the result.

The Roys have a handy buffer in second and will look to maintain that with a fifth consecutive win.

It was a 94-point win for Glenroy when these sides met in Round 1 with eight unanswered final-quarter goals blowing the margin out.

Aaron Kite and Jake Young starred that day with five each, along with Daniel Micevski who had 38 disposals and two goals.

Since that day, Hisham Kerbatieh and Ezzat Haddara have added to the talent at Northern Saints, which the Saints will hope gives them a different look and scope to improve.

Coburg Districts will look to make it 10 wins in a row when it hosts Keilor Park at Cole Reserve.

The Lions have had the best possible first half of the season you could ask for and are off the back of their first 100-point win of their 2026 campaign, thumping Roxburgh Park and holding them to just two goals for the entirety of the afternoon.

On the other hand, it has been a tough season for the Devils who currently sit second last and are in desperate need for a win, but are in good spirits after a competitive performance against the third-placed Hadfield at home.

Coburg Districts had 90 more disposals than Roxy last weekend which was well led by Damien Cavka who racked up 38 possessions in the drubbing over the Magpies.

Despite the rough start to the season, Devils ruck Sam Pontin has dominated most ruck battles and amassed 42 hit outs and six clearances and gave Keilor Park a chance against Hadfield.

He will be a big player for a Devils side looking for a big upset.

Roxburgh Park and Sunbury Kangaroos will be hoping to snap their losing streaks when they meet at Lakeside Reserve.

The Magpies have slipped out of the top four after dropping their last three games, their most recent a 102-point loss to Coburg Districts.

The Kangaroos have lost their last four with their latest a 71-point loss to Westmeadows, sitting one game behind Roxburgh Park.

These sides last met in Round 1 where the Kangaroos won by 15 points.

Co-coaches Shanon Carroll and Dean Young would've been pleased with most facets of that game, despite their innacuracy costing them a bigger winning margin.

Mitch Streiff led the scoring with four goals, while Declan Corcoran had his best game for the year, someone who has been out of the side since Round 7.

For the Magpies, they'll hoping for some scoreboard impact from Teronne Roberts-Potter to act as a point of difference to the Round 1 contest.

An interesting contest looms at Martin Reserve as Hadfield plays host to East Sunbury.

The Hawks have been on a tear winning five in a row to surge into third spot.

The Thunder are one game behind sitting in fifth after two consecutive wins.

It was a 23-point Hadfield win when these sides met in Round 1, Mohammed Moustafa the key difference with four goals.

The Hawks controlled possession on the day with Sam Godden (34 disposals), Josh Trembearth (32 disposals), and Jake Polizzi (32 disposals) finding plenty of it.

The Thunder have built into the season and a key difference to that contest will be the permanence of Todd Elton in the front half.

Elton spent a fair share of his day in the ruck but has struck gold as a primary option inside 50 for the Thunder, kicking 38 goals in the eight games since.

Andrew Beever will have to find the right matchup and method to combat Elton, just like James Strauss will be looking to minimise Hadfield's midfielders and their impact.

Westmeadows and Burnside Heights will close out Round 10 at Willowbrook Reserve.

The Tigers have won three of their last four after some early season struggles and currently sit fourth on the ladder.

The Bears, meanwhile, have won two of their last three to sit in eighth.

Westmeadows won a tight contest against Burnside Heights in Round 1, earning a 16-point win.

A win for Westmeadows will be beneficial no matter the result between Hadfield and East Sunbury as a Hawks win will ensure separation in the four, and a Thunder win should see Westmeadows move into third.

For the Bears, they've seen large improvement of late and would love to be able to push the Tigers to the end.
