The EDFL is seeking applications for a Goal Umpire Development Coach.
The Goal Umpire Development Coach assists the Goal Umpire Head Coach to create a positive environment at training and facilitate the improvement of on-field performance.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate and ensure that umpires are following the EDFL Umpire philosophy.
- Assist in conducting training and coaching sessions, including knowledge on the laws and interpretations, skills, and fitness for goal umpires.
- Where required, assist in conducting training and coaching sessions at junior training centres.
- Observe goal umpires during matches with a view to ascertaining their standard of performance and their strengths and weaknesses.
- Provide constructive and positive feedback to goal umpires to assist with their development and progression. This may include a written or verbal summary of their umpiring performance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of appropriate umpire coach accreditation (as determined by the EDFL Umpire Manager).
- Completion of AFL Umpire Education Modules.
- Current WWCC.
- Attendance at coach development opportunities (or communication to the EDFL Umpire Department if this is not possible).
- Regular attendance at training on Tuesday and Thursday nights (or communication to the EDFL Umpire Department if this is not possible).
- Regular observations on weekends including the completion of EDFL Umpire Feedback Forms and review of vision.
- Report any major issues to the EDFL Umpire Department.
- Respect and abide by the rules and by-laws of the EDFL and the Umpires Code of Conduct.
- Adherence to EDFL Child Safety Policy as well as other relevant guidelines and legislation.
- Adhere to relevant EDFL, AFL Victoria, or AFL policies and government legislation relating to race, disability, inclusion, and discrimination.
- Act in a manner that is respectful and supportive of umpires, players, coaches, and officials regardless of their gender, ability, background, or religion.
- Maintain a high reputation and not do any act or thing calculated to or which might otherwise have the effect of prejudicing the reputation or bring the EDFL into disrepute.
The role requires you to devote approximately six hours per week to this role.
