AIRPORT WEST 6.10 (46) def. by DEER PARK 17.11 (113)
MATCH CENTRE

Deer Park has handed Airport West its fourth loss in a row with a 67-point win at Hansen Reserve.

The win keeps the Lions in fourth spot on 24 points and three games clear inside the top five, while Airport West has slipped down to eighth spot.

The Eagles got the jump on the visitors kicking four of the first five goals, before Deer Park clicked into gear and booted five goals in the second quarter.

With the match still in the balance at quarter time, the Lions kicked away with another six goals in the third before finishing with five final quarter goals to help seal the victory.

Lachlan Smart was back to his brilliant best kicking four goals, while Billy Cannolo and Spiros Amarandtidis led from the front once again.

Despite going down, Jacob Bygate had another solid game booting three goals, while Koolyn Briggs and Hamish Morrison fought hard all day.

Airport West will be hoping to break its losing streak when it takes on East Keilor at Overland Reserve, while Deer Park will host Keilor.

KEILOR 20.10 (130) def. ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 7.14 (56)
MATCH CENTRE

Keilor has made it 11 wins in a row after defeating Essendon Doutta Stars by 74 points in a clinical display at Joe Brown Oval.

The win extends Keilor’s lead at the top of the ladder to two games, while Douttas have slipped to seventh and are now two games outside the top five at the halfway point.

Coach Mick McGuane said that once the reigning premiers got their ball security and ball movement right, it allowed them to challenge Douttas' backline and open up opportunities forward of the ball.

The home side were stunned early in the first quarter, with Douttas taking a four-point lead into quarter time.

However, it quickly vanished with the Blues booting eight goals in the second quarter.

After an evenly poised third quarter which saw Keilor kick four goals and Douttas three, the Blues finished off strongly kicking six final quarter goals in another impressive performance.

It was Keilor’s superstars that did the damage once again with Nick O’Kearney, Kane Barbuto, and Kyle O’Connor all starring in Saturday’s victory.

Bailey Ryan’s stellar 2025 season continued kicking three goals to take his season tally to 25, while Thomas Lamplugh and Declan Tully were solid all day.

Keilor will be hoping to make in 12 in a row when it takes on Deer Park at John McLeod Reserve, while Douttas will host Pascoe Vale.

GREENVALE 9.6 (60) def. by MARIBYRNONG PARK 13.12 (90)
MATCH CENTRE

Maribyrnong Park has recorded its fifth win for the year after defeating Greenvale by 30 points at Section Road.

Saturday’s win gives Maribyrnong Park's finals hopes a huge boost with the Lions now two games clear inside the top five, while Greenvale is languishing in ninth spot with just two wins.

The Jets made the most of a slight breeze early kicking three first quarter goals to go into quarter time with a nine-point lead.

The Lions got their noses in front at half time, holding the Jets to just one goal in the second term, however they could’ve been further in front after kicking five behinds for the quarter.

The home side was able to capitalise on the wind again in the third term, kicking four straight goals to take a 12-point lead into the final change.

With the match evenly poised, Marby turned up the heat and piled on eight goals in a final quarter blitz to help runaway with the victory.

Jaye Bowden booted a game high five goals to claim the Mount Alexander Hotel best on ground award, while Jack Mantello and Josh Cole had their best games for the year.

For the home side, Jonathan Keratianos was reliable in each third of the ground kicking two goals, while Daniel Trifunovic and Dylan Aridas did their best.

Marby will face a much tougher test next week when they travel to Clifton Park to take on Aberfeldie, while Greenvale will square off with Strathmore at Lebanon Reserve.

EAST KEILOR 0.0 (0) def. by PASCOE VALE 26.30 (186)
MATCH CENTRE

Pascoe Vale has made it two wins in a row after defeating East Keilor by 186 points at Overland Reserve.

The win sees the Panthers leapfrog Airport West and Essendon Doutta Stars on the ladder to sit in sixth spot and still in the hunt for a finals berth.

It was clear very early on that it would be another long day for East Keilor with Pascoe Vale jumping out to a 30-point lead at quarter time.

It didn’t stop there with the Panthers booting another eight goals in the second quarter, and finished with 15 second half goals to help ensure a thumping victory.

Rhys Ritchie cashed in kicking seven goals, while Daniel Guccione and Noah Hijazi were prolific in Saturday’s victory.

Despite having another really difficult day, Vinnie Sudano, Nathan Perrone, and Joe Langford all did their best in difficult conditions.

The Panthers will be hoping to extend their unbeaten streak to three matches when they travel to Nipper Jordan Oval to take on Douttas, while East Keilor will host Airport West.

ABERFELDIE 8.11 (59) def. ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 3.5 (23)
MATCH CENTRE

Aberfeldie has made it consecutive wins after taking down Essendon Doutta Stars by 36 points at Clifton Park.

It was a tight contest in the first half, with the margin sitting at six-points at the main break.

Aberfeldie lifted in the second half, bagging three goals and holding the Stars to a single point to cruise towards the final siren.

Mo Hope was instrumental for her side kicking two goals on the afternoon.

Mikayla Curll, Sienna Loccisano, Olivia Madden, Briana Marino, Emily Smith, and Elizabeth Woerndle also hit the scoreboard.

While it wasn't a day to remember for the Stars, the side still delivered moments of brilliance, particularly Ada Pizzinga who stood tall with two goals.

Aberfeldie will be hoping to extend it to three wins on the trot in Round 10 when it takes on Greenvale at Section Road.

Essendon Doutta Stars will return back to the drawing board ahead of its clash with Moonee Valley at Buckley Park.

OAK PARK 9.12 (66) def. GREENVALE 3.2 (20)
MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park has cruised to a comfortable 46-point win over Greenvale at JP Fawkner Reserve.

The home side set the tone early for the match kicking two goals in the opening term and continued to build pressure throughout the match.

The Kangaroos piled on four unanswered goals in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 38 points by half-time.

Greenvale showed signs of a comeback, but couldn’t match Oak Park’s scoreboard pressure.

Emily Findlay led from the front, booting three goals.

Sasha Nelson and Maggie O’Connell also starred with two goals each.

Greenvale's scorers were Jii Williams (two) and Sophie Pettman (one).

The win marks Oak Park seventh straight win. The Kangaroos will be hoping to make it eight when they travel to Shark Park to meet Hillside.

Meanwhile, Greenvale will be hoping to bounce back when they meet Aberfeldie at Greenvale Recreation Reserve.

HILLSIDE 9.14 (68) def. MARIBYRNONG PARK 0.0 (0)
MATCH CENTRE

Hillside flexed its muscles with a 68-point shutout of Maribyrnong Park.

In the second meeting between these two sides in 2025, it was Hillside who claimed bragging rights once again.

Firing on all sides, Hillside kept Marby scoreless from start to finish in a comprehensive display.

Emily Paterno once again stood out kicking four goals.

Nicolette Paschalis was also impressive, contributing with two majors.

The competition's ladder leaders continue to go from strength to strength, and will be gearing up for their highly anticipated clash against Oak Park.

For Maribyrnong Park, they'll have Keilor waiting for them at Monk Oval.

KEILOR 5.6 (36) def. by MOONEE VALLEY 6.1 (37)
MATCH CENTRE

Moonee Valley continues to rise in confidence, edging out Keilor in a heart-stopping one-point win at Green Gully Reserve.

In a game that had gone to the wire, both teams traded leads throughout all four quarters. Keilor entered the final term with a six-point advantage.

But Moonee Valley held their nerve in the dying seconds, first kicking a goal in the fourth to even out the score, then following up with a behind to snatch away the win.

Skipper Nadia Valenti was vital in her side's win, with the Moonee Valley talent bagging two goals.

Michaela Chalhoub, Meg Harrison, Kate Maxwell, and Megan Mifsud were the other contributors up forward.

Despite a stunning five-goal haul from Olivia Manfre, Keilor fell short in the thrilling win.

Moonee Valley will now carry into their Round 10 clash against Essendon Doutta Stars at Buckley Park. Meanwhile, Keilor will meet Maribyrnong Park at Monk Oval.

CRAIGIEBURN 5.7 (37) def. by AVONDALE HEIGHTS 10.9 (69)
MATCH CENTRE

Avondale Heights has won its third game in a row with a 32-point road win against Craigieburn.

The Heights were in cruise control all day and never looked like losing as they sailed past a flat Craigieburn side.

Avondale led by as many as three goals or more at every break, and have now moved into third position on the ladder with six wins and three losses for the season.

Avondale’s vice-captain Jackson Robb did the damage on the scoreboard with three goals, and Majok Puok was also a strong contributor on the day.

The Heights are poised in a great position to attack the rest of the season, and should be extremely confident if they continue to play the brand of footy we have seen so far.

On the other hand, Craigieburn has been disappointing over the past month and were far from their best again on the weekend.

The Eagles have lost their last five games and have plummeted well down the ladder.

They now sit in seventh position, two games and percentage outside of the top five.

Avondale kept the Eagles to just 37 points on the weekend, their lowest scoring performance for the season.

With no real firepower up forward at the moment, it will be interesting to see how coach Shane Jacobs attacks the second half of the season.

Avondale Heights will travel to Shore Reserve next week to take on West Coburg in what’s an exciting clash. Meanwhile, Craigieburn will look to bounce back when they take on a vulnerable St Albans.

TAYLORS LAKES 12.11 (83) def. HILLSIDE 11.10 (76)
MATCH CENTRE

Taylors Lakes has beaten Hillside in a seven-point thriller at Lionheart Reserve.

The win moves the Lions back into the top five and back into finals contention.

Despite losing the first quarter 8-19, the Lions rallied back and stormed to a six-goal-to-one second quarter.

After a dominant second term, the Lions took a healthy 22-point lead into the main break.

Momentum then swung again, with the Sharks regrouping and producing a five-goal-to-two third quarter to take a slender lead into the fourth.

With lead changes, momentum changes, and plenty of game-changing plays, the match was evenly poised, and a thrilling last quarter was brewing.

In a thrilling 25 minutes of football, it was the Lions who scrapped and clawed their way to victory. They outlasted the Sharks to win by seven points in the end.

Lachlan Rayner was the Lions best with a dominant ruck display. His presence and impact around the ground was instrumental.

The Lions also were boosted by the returning Damien Petrone, who chipped in with three crucial goals.

On the other side of the ledger, Hillside will be disappointed with this loss, now sitting a game out of the top three.

Star forward Josh Covelli kicked a bag of five goals, but his afternoon was somewhat soured with a hamstring concern.

Taylors Lakes will travel to Lakeside Reserve next week to take on Roxburgh Park. Meanwhile it gets no easier for Hillside as they take on Oak Park away from home.

MOONEE VALLEY 12.9 (81) def. OAK PARK 10.12 (72)
MATCH CENTRE

Moonee Valley has stunned Oak Park with a sensational nine-point victory that has brought their season to life.

The Fog, who won just the one game out of their first five, have ignited their season by winning three out their last four.

In what was anticipated to be a win for Oak Park, the Fog surprised all and proved that they’re legitimate as they claimed another scalp.

A seven-goal-to-four opening half set the game up, and they were well placed for the remainder of the contest.

Yet despite their strong first half, everybody, including those in the Moonee Valley camp, knew that the Kangaroos were going to make a charge.

The Roos kicked four goals to two in the last quarter to cut into the deficit, but couldn’t quite rein in a prepared and equipped Moonee Valley outfit.

Moonee Valley would go on to record one of their more memorable victories in recent times.

Young gun Zayas Leonedas produced his best game for year and would go on to kick three massive goals for his side. Luke Denny was also a pillar on the day for the Fog.

The win sees them move up into seventh position and sit just one game, and percentage, outside of the top five.

Oak Park, on the other hand, will be disappointed after their performance here.

They felt the absence of star defender Lachie Stredwick heavily. He is the general of their defensive unit and they simply didn’t look the same without him.

They were outplayed for the majority of the game, and despite picking off some goals in the final term, they were no match for a storming Moonee Valley.

Despite the loss, the shining light came through stand-in captain Jedd Taylor. Taylor booted through five goals and was clearly their best for the day.

Next week, Moonee Valley get another chance to put a win on the board when they host Tullamarine, meanwhile Oak Park will need to find its best when it takes on Hillside.

ST ALBANS 10.10 (70) def. by ROXBURGH PARK 16.13 (109)
MATCH CENTRE

Roxburgh Park has won its first game of season 2025 with a jaw-dropping 39-point win over St Albans.

In what was simply a dominant display of football, Roxy never looked like losing as they burnt away from the Saints right from the get go.

They opened their account with an emphatic eight goals in the first quarter to the Saints' one.

This set the game up beautifully as the visitors had a firm grip of the game from then on.

They led by as many as 64 points at the final break, and while the Saints chipped away at the deficit, the damage was already done and Roxy were able to cruise away for the first win of the year.

They’d been knocking on the door of a win for several weeks now, and were finally able to produce a full four-quarter performance.

In a day brimming with individual contributors, it was Roxy’s big guns who led the way. Jack Elliott and Teronne Potter were magnificent.

Elliott was everywhere, and produced one of the performances of the year as he controlled the game around the ground, and won almost every contest he stepped in to.

Potter was equally as dominant. He overpowered the Saints' defence in what was essentially a case of too big, too strong. The key forward slotted six goals and was one of Roxy’s best.

Meanwhile, St Albans have been left stunned as they’ve now lost a consecutive five games in a row and have fallen out of the top five. An incredible outcome when you consider they were the ladder leaders after four rounds of footy with a perfect 4-0 record.

How do they regroup and get back to their best is the question on everybody’s mind.

At their best, they are a dangerous outfit who can beat any team. However, their current form suggests that they are a long way off that.

St Albans host Craigieburn next week in a pivotal game for their season, while Roxburgh Park will host Taylors Lakes.

WEST COBURG 21.12 (138) def. TULLAMARINE 15.6 (96)
MATCH CENTRE

West Coburg has put away a gritty Tullamarine outfit to win by 42 points at Shore Reserve.

The Burgers were strongly challenged by Tullamarine, who came out swinging in the first quarter and led the home side by eight points at the first break.

The second term was all West Coburg as the Burgers piled on an avalanche of eight goals, with Tullamarine scoring just the one.

An up and down third quarter followed this with momentum changes and a handful of goals kicked by both sides.

West Coburg had a handy lead of 17 points heading into the final quarter, but Tullamarine was certainly making it uncomfortable.

Yet despite this, the last quarter was a one-way showcasing.

The Burgers blew the game wide open and piled on an eight-goal-to-four final quarter to run way as 42-point winners.

West Coburg’s Dinny Cleary was among the best, and as expected, was instrumental in the win. Jesse Martini and Iesa Saad were the two Burgers who hit the scoreboard, with Martini kicking five goals and Saad chipping in with four of his own.

Meanwhile for Tullamarine, Ben Weightman will be disappointed after his bag of seven goals wasn’t enough to get his Dees side over the line. Nonetheless, he was the shining light in what was a gallant loss.

West Coburg will host Avondale Heights next week in an intriguing matchup. Meanwhile, Tullamarine will travel down to Ormond Park to take on the flying Moonee Valley.

KEILOR PARK 0.7 (7) def. by WESTMEADOWS 3.0 (18)
MATCH CENTRE

Westmeadows sent a clear message to the competition on Saturday with a defiant win over Keilor Park.

The Tigers turned up the heat right from the start, keeping their opponents scoreless in the first term and setting the tone.

While Keilor Park were able to break through Westmeadows defence at times, inaccuracies at the goal proved costly. By then, Westmeadows had already slotted three goals already.

It was a case of making every moment count, with Westmeadows capitalising on Keilor Park's missed opportunities.

Danielle Linton dazzled on field, finishing with two goals, while Stefanie Maiorana also kicked a goal of her own.

The victory marks Westmeadows' second consecutive win. They'll face a tough test this week, as they head home to battle Strathmore.

Keilor Park will look to move on, as they prepare to take on Tullamarine at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve.

BURNSIDE HEIGHTS 8.5 (53) def. TULLAMARINE 3.3 (21)
MATCH CENTRE

Burnside Heights made an early statement and pushed past Tullamarine to secure a return to the winner's circle.

Both sides were locked at a goal apiece after the opening term, but the Bears slowly started to shift gears, taking a 13-point into the main break.

By the fourth term, Burnside took things up a notch, piling on four goals to put the game out of reach.

Holly McGregor was on fire kicking three goals. While Isabelle Young also chipped in with two of her own.

Sarah Poni took home the Mount Alexander Hotel player of the match award, with Krissy Trang unsurprisingly another contender.

Tullamarine showed promising glimpses, with Emily Angelidis, Laura DAmore, and Tricia Devine all hitting the scoreboard.

The Bears will look to continue their good fortunes when they take on Coburg Districts this week at Cole Reserve.

Tullamarine will face Keilor Park over at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve.

STRATHMORE 10.6 (66) def. COBURG DISTRICTS 0.0 (0)
MATCH CENTRE

Strathmore remained undefeated with a dominant 66-point win over the Coburg Districts.

From the first bounce, Strathmore set the tone with relentless pressure and clean ball movement, piling on the goals in a game that was ended after half time.

Talia Motta soared through the contest delivering several highlights during the game and finishing with two goals in a standout performance.

Tahlia Plant was also rock solid with two goals of her own.

Skyla Cain, Yasmine Guzel, Charlize Kraljevic, Chloe Oakley, Flavia Rajapakse, and Yasmin Welsford also contributed to the scoreboard for Strathmore in a complete team effort.

Strathmore will look to continue their dominance when they take on Westmeadows over Willowbrook Reserve, while Coburg Districts have Burnside Heights to look forward to at Cole Reserve.

NORTHERN SAINTS 15.11 (101) def. BURNSIDE HEIGHTS 14.8 (92)
MATCH CENTRE

Northern Saints bounced back strongly after the break with a nine-point win over Burnside Heights.

There was a clear scoring end that the Bears utilised in the first term to lead by 17 points at the first change.

Tamer Abdallah's men were scintillating in the second term kicking 9.1 to take a 31-point lead into half time.

Burnside Heights worked back into the contest, but couldn't quite get over the Saints in the end.

Mohamed Taleb stepped up in Khoder Taleb's absence with four goals in a best-on-ground performance, alongside Abdallah (three goals), Nick Bruno (three goals), and Angus Withington (two goals).

Tyson Iglesias kicked his first goal since 2018 and ended the day with a game-high five majors.

Jacob Elia impressed again with three goals, while Anthony Petrarca and Jordan Hughes fought hard.

The Bears will look to bounce back against Sunbury Kangaroos, while the Saints will take on Westmeadows.

EAST SUNBURY 10.13 (73) def. by COBURG DISTRICTS 18.14 (122)
MATCH CENTRE

Coburg Districts has moved into the top five with a 49-point win over East Sunbury.

The Lions were challenged by a valiant Thunder outfit, but a second consecutive bag of 10 goals from Jack McNamara was always going to be hard to top.

East Sunbury made the most of favourable conditions to lead by 14 points at quarter time, before 10 second-quarter goals from Coburg Districts provided a buffer that would prove unassailable.

McNamara was supported in front of goal by Curtis Rawlings who kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Riley Bentley and Daniel Mifsud each kicked two goals.

Ayden Skroce also hit the scoreboard and was among the Lions' best.

Brendan Fevola kicked three goals to make it five games where he's kicked multiples this season, as Todd Elton and Aaron Flavel kicked two of their own.

James Cree was among the best in his first game this season, alongside Lachlan Brne and Joel Catros.

The Thunder will next play Hadfield, while Coburg Districts will play Rupertswood.

RUPERTSWOOD 9.16 (70) def. HADFIELD 8.9 (57)
MATCH CENTRE

Rupertswood has held off a gallant Hadfield outfit to win by 13 points at Salesian College.

The Sharks led narrowly at each break, but did enough to move up into second spot.

Nine goals from 25 scores wouldn't please coach Brad Fox too much, but boasting nine individual goal scorers certainly would.

With plenty of avenues to goal, Rupo's most dangerous forwards Clayton Bonello and Fraser Phelan-Smith were unsurprisingly among the goals.

Adam Bartrop has been impressive since crossing from Tullamarine in the offseason and was named Rupo's best.

Josh Trembearth returned for his first game since Round 4 and kicked a goal as one of their top contributors.

Nathan Johnson led the scoring for the Hawks with three goals, with young gun Jack Dodorico also hitting the scoreboard in another strong performance.

Hadfield will look to bounce back against East Sunbury, while Rupertswood will play Coburg Districts.

GLENROY 8.10 (58) def. SUNBURY KANGAROOS 8.8 (56)
MATCH CENTRE

Glenroy avoided consecutive losses with a come-from-behind victory over Sunbury Kangaroos at Sewell Reserve.

The Kangaroos enjoyed a fast start keeping the Roys to just one point in the opening term, leading by 20 points at the first two breaks.

Glenroy inched back in the third but still trailed by 13 points in a low-scoring affair heading into the last.

The Roys brought the game to within a kick six minutes into the final quarter, but struggled to find the middle after that.

Their next goal would come at the 22 minute mark to put them ahead, a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Jacob Albazi and Mark Sabatino each kicked two goals with Jake Young and Omar Taleb providing support up front in strong displays.

Skipper Mitch Streiff continued his dominant run in front of goals with four majors, as co-coach Jayden Eales chipped in with two as well.

The Kangaroos will have a chance to bounce back and keep in touch with the top five next week against Burnside Heights, while Glenroy will play Keilor Park.

Keilor Park added 33 points to its tally while Westy doubled their score, the latter the higher of the two.

Mitch Church and Aaron Evans were again dominant in front of goal with three goals each, while Michael Mayne and Ryan Stingel were valuable in the win.

Daylan Kempster was the most effective forward for the Devils with four goals, on a day they kicked 10 goals from 27 scores.

For the Thunder, it was their highest score this season and the second highest in their two seasons of senior women's footy.

Skipper Rhianna Kirk was pivotal in the performance with two goals, while vice-captain Sophia Iosifidis kicked the other.

The two leaders were among the best alongside Holly Roberts-Engellenner.

East Sunbury will next play Sunbury Lions, while Roxburgh Park will play Sunbury Kangaroos.

Sunbury Kangaroos have pulled off a strong 25-point win over Taylors Lakes.

It was the first time this season the two sides have met with the Kangaroos holding the Lions to just one point after quarter time.

Taylors Lakes kicked two unanswered to start the game, before the Sunbury Kangaroos kicked the next six to run out comfortable victors.

Courtney Snedden kicked the first two goals of her career to lead the scoring for the Kangaroos in a best-on-ground performance.

Tylah Bell also hit the scoreboard and was dominant on the day.

The potent offense of the Lions was tamed with Charlie Goodwin and Jessica McKenzie kicking their only two goals of the game.
