Following the Essendon District Football League’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, December 4 2024, the league wishes to announce the following changes to its Board.
Retiring Chair Bernie Shinners and Board member Steve Webb have made way for newly elected members Sebastian Buccheri and Dan Trindade, filling all seven positions for the 2025 season.
The pair joins continuing Board members Nick Condos, Janette Chantry OAM, Andrea Tacono, Gareth Hanlon, and Ian Price who was elected as the new Chair having previously held the position in 2012.
The league wishes to thank Steve Webb for his contribution to the league.
The league also wishes to congratulate and thank Bernie Shinners for his incredible service as a Board member since 2012, and Chair since 2019.
Shinners said he is pleased the EDFL is in a much better position today than when he joined the Board.
“It is more inclusive, more financially secure, and caters for more participants.” he said. “The changes that have occurred have been the result of the hard work of a whole range of people involved at all levels in our league.”
“There are too many to name, but I thank them for allowing me to be involved on the league's Board and more recently as its President and Chair of the Board.”
“My particular thanks goes to my more recent Board colleagues Ian Price, Gareth Hanlon, Nick Condos, Andrea Tacono, Jan Chantry, and Steve Webb.”
“Congratulations to the new Chair Ian Price and our two new Board members Sebastian Buccheri and Dan Trindade.”
“I know they will, together with the other Board members, work collaboratively with all our stakeholders to maintain the league's well-earned reputation as one of the most respected community football leagues in metropolitan Melbourne."
Sebastian Buccheri is an accredited Exercise Physiologist and senior manager, with extensive people and project management experience, and has served on a range of advisory boards ranging from local government to national organisations.
He also brings extensive experience holding various volunteer roles at clubland, recently serving as the President of the Hillside Football Club.
Dan Trindade maintains strong legal knowledge on the Board as an experienced lawyer and brings a wealth of Board experience.
He holds vast football knowledge and has been part of the EDFL Appeals Board since its commencement, recently serving as its Chair.
Chair Ian Price welcomes the two new Board members and looks forward to continuing the great work the Board does with the clubs and all other important stakeholders.
