With the 2023 season just around the corner, EDFL Media will be previewing each club heading into Round One. Next, we chat to Aberfeldie coach Adam Marcon who provides some insights on their 2023 campaign.
2022: 1st, grand finalist (15W, 2L, 1D, 155.92%)
Coach: Adam Marcon (second season)
PRE-SEASON FOCUS
"The biggest focus for us this pre-season has been work on our connection as a group and the way we approach our defence. We are always looking at ways we can improve our on and off-field standards and these are two areas that we feel can provide us with some real growth."
LIST SHAPE
"We are lucky enough to have a few returning Aberfeldie players including Josh Kemp, Matthew Caddeo, and Josh Hotchkin, and then also attract some really talented players in Karl Brown, Jack Mapleson, and Lachlan Smart. These guys have all brought some areas of strength to our list which seems to be made up of a nice mix of experience and youth."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
"We believe that strong preseason training form equates to a high likelihood of having a good season. With this in mind, we should see Nic Cattapan, James Rocci, Aaron Stone, Leon Manago, and Jack Mapleson having good seasons in 2023."
2023 OUTLOOK
"Our goal in 2023 is to get even closer as a group and continue to spend time together on and off the field. We want to enjoy being around the club, work hard while we are there, and get to know each other a little better. We had a great opportunity to do that recently at a pre-season camp in Mt. Eliza."

EDFL MEDIA SAYS
It was a predictably strong season down at Clifton Park who dropped just two games on their way to the big dance which resulted in a extra-time thriller. Unfortunately for the two blues, they fell on the wrong side of the ledger after a 52-point dismantling of Strathmore just a couple of weeks prior. It will be Adam Marcon's second year at the helm with the pre-season holding a big focus on the group's synergy. Marcon's men will be well shaped to get back to the grand final attracting some young talent back to the club who have been, or remain, on VFL lists, as well as Team of the Year full forward Karl Brown.
