2023 Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division Team Of The Year

Full 24 Revealed!

All eight clubs of the Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division season are represented in the 2023 Team of the Year.

After dropping just one game during the home-and-away season, six players from Aberfeldie feature in the team starting with skipper Kylie Kennedy retaining her spot in the full back post.

Teammate Ilaria Akers moves to half back after starting on the half forward flank in 2022 with Westmeadows playing coach Gemma Wright starting at centre half back and Hillside's Yara Taylor on the other flank.

Maribyrnong Park's Charlotte Rayner joins Kennedy in the other full back slot rounding out the back five.

League leading goal kicker Alex Quigley starts in one of the full forward posts after moving back into the top flight, kicking 38 goals for Oak Park during the regular season (bagged a further 11 during the three finals).

She is joined by Aberfeldie sharpshooter Erica Markesich at full forward who moved onto the field after being selected on the bench in last year's team, with Keilor's Madeline Barton making the same move to start on a half forward flank.

The other half of Quigley and Oak Park's dynamic forward duo in Samantha German retains her spot in the forward line, with Maribyrnong Park's Zoe Manning completing the forward five.

Keilor's Megan Neill will again start in the ruck with Hannah Ibrahim (Hillside) also starting as a ruck rover for the second consecutive season.

Aberfeldie star midfielder Ellie Huggard had an awesome year since re-joining the Two Blues and fills out the ruck rover slots, with Moonee Valley's Jessica Nannup starting at centre as the Fog's only representative starting on the field.

Oak Park are running the wings with Mia Briedis and Emily Findlay rewarded for terrific seasons.

Chiara Guarino is Strathmore's lone representative in the side and will start on the interchange.

Starting on the pine alongside her is Annalise Wilkie (Hillside), India Barker (Maribyrnong Park), Alicia Reivers (Aberfeldie), Nicole Chiera (Moonee Valley), Shanel Camilleri (Oak Park), Ruby Smith (Westmeadows), and Olivia Madden (Aberfeldie).

The coach and captain of the Team of the Year will be announced at the EDFL Presentation Evening on September 28.

SELECTION PROCESS & CRITERIA

All EDFL Teams of the Year are compiled based solely on the input of each club’s senior coach.

The 2023 Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division Team of the Year was to recognise the best players of the 2023 home-and-away season.

Other factors such as reputation or form in previous seasons were not to be taken into account.

The Coach and Captain of the Year were also determined based on the feedback provided by the senior coaches.
