By JULIA MONTESANO

QUALIFYING FINAL 1 - BURNSIDE HEIGHTS v SUNBURY KANGAROOS

Sunday 12pm @ Keilor Reserve

ANOTHER intriguing match will kick off proceedings at Keilor Reserve as second and third on the ladder go head-to-head in a highly-anticipated clash.

Both teams have been dominant all season with some big wins to ensure that they kept their coveted top four spots.

Last time these two teams met was in Round 4 where the Bears came away with a massive 54-point win.

Expect a much closer contest this time round, as the Sunbury Kangaroos have won every game since Round 5 and would be keen to keep that winning streak alive.

The Kangaroos have beaten every side below them on the ladder this year so coming up against a formidable outfit like the Bears will be a big challenge, especially with captain, Kayla Ravanello in fine form in front of goal.

At the other end, Sunbury’s Tara Crisp would be hoping to use her marking prowess to kick plenty of goals to earn a week off for her side.

QUALIFYING FINAL 2 - PASCOE VALE v ABERFELDIE

Sunday 2pm @ Keilor Reserve

Pascoe Vale has not put a foot wrong this season, finishing the season with a perfect unbeaten record.

This means that the Panthers come into this clash as favourites but Aberfeldie have been able to take it up to the best of the best, nearly coming away with a win against Burnside Heights during the season.

But with Siobhan Carlton dominating up forward, this could be a big challenge for Aberfeldie’s solid defence.

Carlton has kicked 37 goals from 11 games this season and has finished on top of the goal kicking tally in the home and away season.

Thanks to great delivery from the likes of Aimee Whelan and Bridgette Aparo, the Panthers have been able to assert their dominance on plenty of games during the season.

Aberfeldie need to come into this game with the belief that it can cause an upset, as the players have shown that they have what it takes all season.

With the likes of Amy Starzer up forward and Olivia Madden running amok in midfield, the Panthers could be pushed in this game, making for an interesting battle.

ELIMINATION FINAL 1 - SUNBURY LIONS v KEILOR

Sunday 12pm @ Highgate Reserve - Oval 2

This match could be one of the closest of the weekend as both teams have battled their way into finals.

The Sunbury Lions have not quite been able to revisit their dominance of last year but showed very promising signs throughout the home-and-away season.

Without hardly any premiership players in their side, Keilor has done well to make it this far, showing the depth of its club.

Dianne Comport has had a solid season for the Lions, kicking 11 goals from seven games.

She would be hoping to have a dominant performance inside 50 again as Keilor is by no means an easy team to beat.

This is thanks to players like current captain, Christie Roberts and 2017 premiership captain, Emily Law.

The duo have been two of many consistent players at the Blues this season and would be keen to get their side over the line in a do-or-die clash.

ELIMINATION FINAL 2 - WESTMEADOWS v STRATHMORE

Sunday 2pm @ Highgate Reserve - Oval 2

In a knockout final, all eyes will be on Strathmore who come into this game as underdogs.

After a good run home, the Mores have been able to come into this finals series with plenty of confidence that they can topple the high-flying Tigers.

Westmeadows has been a tough outfit to come up against for any team, and this was proved in Round 11 when the Tigers held the ladder-leaders, Pascoe Vale goalless for the second half.

Danielle Linton’s versatility could be key in this game as she has the capacity to play up forward and in defence, which could cause headaches for Strathmore.

But with a speedy midfield that includes the likes of Rebecca Said and Sally Portbury, the Tigers will need to be on their toes if they are to stop their run on the day.

Last time these two teams met was in Round 10 where Westmeadows secured an 80-point win.

But with the Mores winning two of their last three games of the home-and-away season, they would be hoping to push the Tigers all the way to the end.
