Two Rounds Left And Fourth Spot Up For Grabs In EF Division 1

By JACOB MANZIE

EAST KEILOR 5.8-38 def. TULLAMARINE 5.5-35

Game Details

IN what was a very low-scoring game, East Keilor caused the upset on the weekend against Tullamarine.

The loss pushed Tullamarine back to third spot on the Essendon Ford Division 1 ladder and saw Hillside move back into second spot as the fight for the double chance between the two continues.

East Keilor were impressive in their three-point win, however the game didn’t pack much of a punch with only 10 goals being scored from both sides in what was a slow day at Overland Reserve.

Scott Eldridge led the way for East Keilor and Marcus Smith was the Demons best-on-ground.

The weekend’s win has showed the potential East Keilor have as they have now strung four wins together, although they probably left it too late in the season to do any real damage.

They will be one to watch in seasons to come.

WESTMEADOWS 15.18-108 def. TAYLORS LAKES 9.7-61

Game Details

With a battle for fourth spot still at hand for Taylors Lakes, they haven’t really made it any easier for themselves as they have lost two games out of their last three.

The visitors went up to Willowbrook Reserve with probably a little too much confidence as they took on eighth-placed Westmeadows.

From the first bounce Westmeadows got the jump on the Lions, kicking three goals to one.

After that Westmeadows were able to control the game for four quarters, not giving Taylors Lakes a sniff.

Tamer Abdallah was dominant for the home side and Jake Hobbs tried to get his team over the line with two goals and a best-on-ground performance.

It will be interesting to see who will make finals with two games to go for the 2017 season.

GLENROY 17.20-122 def. AIRPORT WEST 10.6-66

Game Details

The upset Airport West would have liked to push their way back into the four.

Now, with only two rounds to go in the season, the Eagles will have to win back-to-back to have any chance of getting on top of Taylors Lakes and making the four.

The Eagles were strong in front of goal on the weekend, with sharpshooter Tyson Young making it a tough day for Glenroy’s defenders, slotting five goals as well as earning best-on-ground honours for his side.

However, it wasn’t enough to get his side over the line and Glenroy continued to exert their dominance.

Adam Winter kicked three goals for the home side and Jayden Borg was their standout for the day.

With Tullamarine being handed a loss, Glenroy now sits a game clear atop the Essendon Ford Division 1 ladder.

OAK PARK 17.12-114 def. HADFIELD 4.4-28

Game Details

A comfortable win for Oak Park at JP Fawkner Reserve on the weekend puts them on equal points as Airport West, whom are fifth on the ladder.

Hadfield were just no match for Oak Park, going down by 86 points.

The home side were strong again as they have made a late charge in the 2017 season, winning most of their games in the back end of the season.

Jack Pascu and Bryce Crosswell were strong around the ground for Oak Park while Travis Anderson was strong in front of goal, which made it a tough day for the visitors.

With two rounds to go it will very interesting to see if Hadfield can put a win on the board.

However, with their last two games consisting of Westmeadows and Glenroy - that may be difficult.
