Semi Final Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Division 2

By LIAM McALLION

COBURG DISTRICTS v JACANA – Semi Final 2

Saturday @ Coburg City Oval

FINALLY, the game all EDFL onlookers have been waiting for.

The tussle for top spot was between these two all season.

Now the two flag favourites will battle out for the first spot in the big dance at Windy Hill.

It is star players galore, with a shoot-out on the cards.

The bustling Cameron Cloke, who finished with a crazy 112 this season, will be up against another key forward who has kicked 55 goals of his own this season and is a force to reckon with in the air.

Luke Vesnaver is that man and could make for plenty of bombs from outside 50.

Classy midfields will again create a long highlight reel and a battle in contests between the Jags’ Michael Evans and Coburg Districts’ Tom Lucin.

With plenty of superstars on show, a grand final opportunity beckoning and tactics galore, this will be the game of the year with a huge crowd taking it in at Coburg City Oval.

NORTHERN SAINTS v MOONEE VALLEY – Semi Final 1

Sunday @ Hadfield (Radio Game)

The two toughest, full of hustle and hardest at the footy teams in Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 go head-to-head at what will be a packed out Martin Reserve.

A consistent year for the Saints with their run-and-carry and deep forward entries will be hard to stop.

But the build of the Fog's high score lines and run off the half backline have them in their best form of the season and will make for a cracking match-up.

Jacob Adkins has built each week for Moonee Valley and after a bag last week with the help of some silver service from skipper Ned Wilson, it will be a very exciting and close encounter.

With a combined 78 goals for the season the unstoppable presence that Saints Mo Taleb and Kelsey Clayton have will be a nightmare for the Fog and will make a thrilling, high-scoring game.

Big hits, speed bursts out of defence and immense tackle pressure will be the building blocks of a close and unbelievable match-up for a Preliminary Final spot next weekend.
