Round 9 Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Division 2

By LIAM McALLION

Jacana vs Northern Saints

GOING head-to-head here are Strathmore Community Bank Division 2’s most thrilling teams and it’s going to be an entertaining contest.

Jacana was upset by East Sunbury last week and are desperate to bounce back after a disappointing display, while the Northern Saints will be looking forward to testing themselves against the Jags once more after going down to Jacana by 28 points in Round 2.

The goal-scoring machine of Cameron Cloke is taking over the division single-handedly for the Jags now with 54 goals to his name from only seven games.

Emerging stars for the Saints, including class from Ryan Lofaro and the craftiness of Nicolas Bruno contrast well with the Jags’ experienced forwards and ball-users.

Flashy players and teams who love impacting the scoreboard will make for a high-scoring affair.

Moonee Valley vs Coburg Districts

These are two powerhouses of the division with spirit-driven players.

Moonee Valley seems to be building nicely into its season and could just be sneaking under the radar.

The opposite always seems to apply for Coburg Districts.

Because of their volume of player turnover and at times flashy game style, many Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 pundits always keep a close eye on Chris Tankard’s men.

Stuart Taylor for the Fog has built each week and is starting to find plenty of the ball, while using it positively.

For Coburg Districts, Nikolas Dimeski's ability to run out games and use nifty his foot skills has helped the Lions develop a quick style of footy.

The mere fitness and size of two sides should make for a great contest.

Burnside Heights vs Roxburgh Park

Two teams built around leadership from key players will look to bounce back onto the winners list.

Roxburgh Park hasn’t sung the song since mid-May while Burnside Heights is keen to get its second win of the year.

With the stepping up of the Bears’ Blake Brigham and Roxburgh Park’s Adrian McKinnon, both sides will again need another lift.

In-form crowd favourites of Tumay Humza for the Magpies and Bears cult hero Josh Covelli will again bring great highlights and plenty of scoreboard action.

With speed out of the backline and size and skill up forward, this will be an exciting game and one worth watching.

Keilor Park vs East Sunbury

Both teams want to establish some consistent form and will come out firing for a big clash.

The individual consistency of Pete Corredig has been one major positive for Keilor Park in what remains a winless season to date.

He who uses the ball well for his team’s advantage each week.

Similarly, East Sunbury gun youngster Tom Cree gives his all each week and is electric in the midfield.

Last week he was EDFL Radio’s RAWFORM Seamless Compression Player of the Day following the Thunder’s wonderful 43-point upset win over Jacana.
