TAYLORS LAKES v TULLAMARINE

THIS match presents a good test for Taylors Lakes and where it is at this season.

The Lions have surprised several teams early in the year and have shown they will be competitive in every game.

Their forward line has started to settle and coming off the bye, they will be fresh and raring to go.

The Demons will be hoping to get another win and enter the Queen’s Birthday weekend undefeated.

They had no troubles at all last weekend against Jacana, doing what they needed to do.

This week’s match could quite easily be won in defence, with the side that is able to shut down the spread of goal kickers the best, likely to get the win.

EAST KEILOR v OAK PARK

East Keilor almost added to its wins total with a thrilling loss against Hillside.

The Cougars pushed the Sharks all the way but couldn't get across the line.

Cougars playing coach Ash Arrowsmith is starting to hit form which is a big boost for the Cougars as they look to rise up the ladder.

A win here for the Cougars puts them two wins ahead of Oak Park and gives them breathing space on possible relegation.

For Oak Park, this week is a must-win game.

Facing a side towards the bottom of the ladder, it’s the perfect time to kick-start their season.

They showed signs for a half against Airport West that they can play well in periods, it’s just a matter of doing it for the whole game.

JACANA v HILLSIDE

While Hillside should win this match, the Jaguars could test them if they find some of their best form.

It’s been up and down for the Jaguars as they look to find their first win in the higher division.

They have the talent, it’s been a matter of putting it all together on the park.

Billy Morrison continues to be one of the shining lights for the Jaguars, having been named in their best three players in five of his six games.

The Sharks are another talented team but have been hurt by injuries.

They returned to the winners list on the weekend, but they didn’t have it all their own way against East Keilor.

The Sharks needed the whole game to get the win and stay in touch with the top four sides, after two straight losses before that.

Mitch Church looks like he’s started to settle in at Shark Park and it’s reflecting on the scoreboard.

Expect the Sharks to start playing more of the football we’ve been used to, once they get closer to having their full list available.

AIRPORT WEST v WESTMEADOWS

Airport West’s reputation as a strong finisher continued with the side needing a good second half to get over the line against Oak Park.

Several times this season the Eagles have either been down at half time or holding a small lead, before finding another level in the second half.

Once they play four strong quarters, it will spell bad signs for the other teams in the competition.

Tyson Young’s good form continued as he kicked eight goals for a second straight week and moved to joint leader in the division’s goal kicking.

Like they have all season, the Tigers have shown periods of play against Craigieburn, which would have tested any team in the competition.

They dominated the last quarter kicking seven goals, but it was too little, too late.

To knock off Airport West, they will need to do that for the whole game.

Sticking with them for a half won’t get them the four points.
