Round 6 Preview (Part 2) - EDFL Women's

By JULIA MONTESANO

STRATHMORE v CRAIGIEBURN

Sunday 2:20pm @ Lebanon Reserve

STRATHMORE’S results may continue to be unpredictable, but what is for sure is that captain, Sophie Cachia, will stand up for her side against the Eagles.

Cachia has been instrumental off half-back and in the ruck for the Mores, and will look to lead her side to its second win of the season.

She has been complemented by the netballers in her side, Sally Portbury, Ruby Pini and Caitlyn Ball, who have all been digging deep for the Mores this season.

Craigieburn, like Strathmore, is coming off a Round 5 loss.

The loss came in devastating fashion, as the Eagles went down by just two points after mounting a wonderful comeback against reigning premier, Keilor.

Captain, Natasha Konstantinidis has been superb for Craigieburn, continuing on from an impressive season last year.

She has been complemented by cricketers Rebecca Lines and Samantha French, who was the side’s co-captain last year.

This Round 6 match-up essentially sees a battle between some magnificent dual-sport athletes.

WESTMEADOWS v AVONDALE HEIGHTS/TAYLORS LAKES

Sunday 2:30pm @ Willowbrook Reserve

Both Westmeadows and Avondale Heights/Taylors Lakes come into Round 6 on the back of a loss.

The Tigers went down to the Bears while Avondale Heights/Taylors Lakes was defeated by the Sunbury Lions.

Westmeadows’ Danielle Linton has been a star with 11 goals from five games, including a bag of seven majors in Round 1.

Former basketballer, Kloe Jordan-Wilson has also been a solid contributor for the Tigers with her impressive footy IQ and endurance running.

For Avondale Heights/Taylors Lakes, you can’t look past Rita Ceravolo, who has been amongst the best players in every game she has played in.

Ceravolo is a long-serving player at Avondale Heights, having played at Canning Reserve for over six years.

Affinity Miller and Brianna Rachkidi have complemented Ceravolo well throughout the season, and would be hoping to do so again on Sunday to record their second win of the season.
