Round 17 Preview - Essendon Ford Division 1

By JACOB MANZIE

EAST KEILOR v OAK PARK – Radio Game

THOUGH unlikely, both teams are still in the finals hunt and need to win this to stay alive.

East Keilor takes on Oak Park at Overland Reserve and neither team will be holding back.

The Cougars won by only one kick in the previous match-up, so Oak Park will be looking to get one back against the home side.

If East Keilor can shut down Aden Harris and Dean Clare, who gave them trouble up forward last time the two met, they will restrict the Kangaroos’ goal-scoring power.

Both teams will look at this game as a final, so it’s a game to definitely watch in Round 17.

TULLAMARINE v HILLSIDE

Both sides sit on equal points with 10 wins and four losses, so this game is going to be huge.

It’s a look at what is to be expected come the finals in a couple of weeks and a preview to how exciting the Essendon Ford Division 1 finals are going to be.

Hillside have been strong all year, not really missing a beat, which puts them ahead of their challengers in Tullamarine.

Last time the two met it was a thriller, with the Demons just scraping over the line by four points to get the win.

Hillside won’t want to let this game slip as a loss here may see them lose the double chance.

TAYLORS LAKES v GLENROY

This game will be a big test for Taylors Lakes as they may have to come up against Glenroy in a couple of weeks’ time.

However, they need to make the finals first.

With two games to go, Taylors Lakes really need to force an upset here so they can stay a game clear of Airport West.

If they lose this weekend they give the Eagles, Cougars or Kangaroos every chance to grab fourth spot.

Seeing as Glenroy are comfortably atop the ladder and with finals just around the corner, they may choose to rest some players so they’re fresh and ready to go.

That gives Taylors Lakes every chance to grab the much needed points this weekend.

Last time these two went head-to-head, Glenroy controlled the game and got the win pretty easily, so it will be interesting to see if the Lions can respond.

HADFIELD v WESTMEADOWS

Westmeadows will have their tails up coming into this weekend after coming off a very good win against Taylors Lakes last week.

Hadfield will still be hungry for a win, which at the moment doesn’t look likely before the end of the 2017 season.

Last time they met Westmeadows dismembered the Hadfield outfit, kicking 32 goals for the game and dominating them in every area.

Hadfield will be looking to fix their mistakes and get their first win before season’s end.
