Round 11 Preview - EDFL Women's (Part 1)

By JULIA MONTESANO

SUNBURY KANGAROOS v SUNBURY LIONS

Friday 7pm @ Eric Boardman Reserve

THE Sunbury Kangaroos notched up their fourth consecutive win with a convincing 65-point victory over Keilor.

Essendon VFLW forward, Alex Quigley again played for the side after not being selected in the Bombers’ line-up this weekend.

Quigley booted three goals while usual suspect, Tara Crisp kicked four to take her season goal kicking tally to 19.

The Kangaroos would love to have Quigley in the side again on Friday night, as they go head-to-head against local rivals in the Sunbury Lions.

The Lions have had a week off to prepare for this huge clash, as they look to climb up the ladder.

Sunbury is on equal wins and losses with Aberfeldie and Westmeadows and are hot on their heels on the ladder.

What’s holding them back is their percentage, so the Lions would love to not only record a win, but a big win against the in-form Kangaroos.

This will require Dianne Comport to continue booting through the goals for her side, as she looks to climb the goal kicking tally, currently sitting at 11 goals from seven games.

In-form players, Krystie Dudley and Jacinta Taylor will also be vital in recording an upset win under Friday night lights.

ABERFELDIE v HILLSIDE

Friday 7:30pm @ Clifton Park

Aberfeldie is coming off its biggest EDFL Women’s win after defeating Keilor Park by 117 points.

The Gorillas held the Devils scoreless and simultaneously piled on 16 goals themselves.

Aleesha Hobbs booted four while Amy Starzer and Sophie Fazzolari returned to form with three and two goals each, respectively.

This was a good confidence-boosting win for Aberfeldie, who slipped out of the top four at the end of Round 9.

Now back in fourth position, the Gorillas would be liking their chances against Hillside.

However, the Sharks have been highly competitive in the past fortnight, recording a win against Keilor and only going down by three goals against Craigieburn.

Caetlyn Twentyman shone in that performance with a goal and a great presence across the ground.

The Sharks will be hoping for a good performance from her, as well as regular stars, Brittany McIntyre and Nikita Wright if they are to cause their second upset win in three weeks.
