Round 10 Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Division 2

By LIAM McALLION

Northern Saints v Moonee Valley

TWO of the bustling teams of the competition are head-to-head at what will be a vocal Charles Mutton Reserve.

Both the Saints and Fog are coming off tough losses and from the first bounce will be keen to prove they are worthy of contender status in Strathmore Community Bank Division 2.

Speed out of defence along with quality ball use through Elliot Kako for the Northern Saints will create a great match-up against Moonee Valley’s Jacob Adkins, who will also provide pace and attack in the forward half.

Exciting key forwards of the Fog’s Lachlan Cameron and the Saints’ Mo Taleb will also highlight the talent this division has to offer.

This will be a close, body-on-body affair and a quality game of footy.

East Sunbury v Roxburgh Park

Roxburgh Park will be keen to get back on the winners list after a tough loss to the Bears, while East Sunbury, who got a dominant win over Keilor Park, will have to try not get ahead of themselves.

This will be a hard-fought battle.

The Thunder’s Adam Galea has lifted each week and his on-field communication and ball-use will create a great match-up against skilful Magpie Jack Elliot, who will battle and gain possession all game.

Flare from Tumay Hamza for Roxburgh Park and East Sunbury’s Lachlan Brne will make for a highlight-filled, highly-skilled match.

Both teams wanting to rise up the ladder and also build much-needed consistency will be desperate for this win, with a boisterous crowd right behind them.

Coburg Districts v Burnside Heights

Recently back into form and with only one loss for the year, Coburg Districts will try to assert their dominance.

But with Burnside Heights coming off the back of their second win for the season, they will be fired up for an exciting match.

Crowd favourites Josh Covelli and Luke Vesnaver have combined for 75 goals for the season already, so that’ll be something to look forward to inside the arcs.

With similar styles of play and powerful keys back and forward getting the job done, we’ll get a high-intensity battle.

Keilor Park v Jacana

Although struggling on the ladder, Keilor Park is improving and ready to take on the machine that is Jacana.

Errol Salih for the Devils, who kicked seven last week, is going to have to keep up with Cameron Cloke, who is averaging seven goals a game.

So we could get a shoot-out at both ends.

With different players stepping up each week, including relentless effort for the ball by the Jags’ Justin Colliss and Devils’ Brett Thomas, we’ll end up with another must-see head-to-head.

Despite what the ladder says, we have some interesting match-ups on display here.
