New EDFL Umpires Kit Gets The Green Light

460degrees Partnership Announced

THE EDFL’s field, boundary and goal umpires will don a new lime green uniform in Season 2019.

The league has signed a sponsorship deal with expert management agency, 460degrees, whose logo will appear alongside those of Strathmore Community Bank and Brad Teal Real Estate on the new uniforms.

“It stands out, that’s for sure,” 460degrees Managing Director Werner Spies told essendondfl.com.au.

“It’s a good way to reach out to the community, because our brand is pretty new.

“We were looking at doing something in the community (and) we looked at how the EDFL trains its young umpires and all those values resonated with what we do.

“I’m very happy with the outcome and I think we’ll get a lot of exposure of our brand and I think the colours work, so I’m very happy with it.”

The league made the change from an orange uniform to a green one due to the numerous clashes that occurred in games that involved clubs who wore similar colours, including Burnside Heights, Keilor Park and Maribyrnong Park.

League CEO Craig Armstead said the new green uniform will eliminate those colours clashes from now on.

“We had issues with the orange uniform where it clashed with a number of team uniforms and that has health risks in terms of the potential of players running into umpires,” Armstead said.

“So we made a decision to move to a lime green, and it’s been great to have the support of 460degrees in getting these ready.

“There’s a lot of alignment between the culture and objectives of the two organisations and I think when umpires are out on the ground, people will notice their branding.”

The new uniforms will be rolled out across all EDFL competitions from April 5.
