EAST KEILOR 9.8-62 def. by OAK PARK 17.14-116

Game Details

OAK Park is the big story to come out of Round 17 after another win moved them into fourth spot and put them in finals contention with one round to go.

Sitting seventh on the ladder in Round 15, the Kangaroos have put a few wins together, while watching their opponents in Airport West and Taylors Lakes lose to get ahead.

East Keilor aren’t easy beats, either.

With six wins for the season they have showed what they can do, however Oak Park were just too strong on the weekend.

The visitors were impressive, however, with Michael Hooper earning himself best-on as well a goal, while East Keilor’s Ethan Langwell was also impressive.

Can Oak Park clinch a second consecutive finals spot?

They play Tullamarine at home this weekend.

TULLAMARINE 9.10-64 def. by HILLSIDE 13.12-90

Game Details

With Tullamarine and Hillside battling it out all year, this game was always going to be interesting.

It was a look at how good the finals series is going to be.

As the two have fought it out for second spot and the double chance, Hillside have finally broken away and with only one round left, the Sharks are in a good position to take it home.

Joseph Drake helped get his side over the line with a best-on-ground performance while Matthew Patane kicked three goals for Hillside.

Joel Flanigan and Robert Nikolic were both standouts for the Demons, however they just couldn’t get their team over the line and grab the points.

TAYLORS LAKES 6.11-47 def. by GLENROY 19.19-133

Game Details

It was always going to be tough for Taylors Lakes, however this result was a little unexpected.

Glenroy handed Taylors Lakes an 86-point loss on the weekend, as the ladder-leaders continued their dominance and grabbed their 13th win for the season.

The loss, however, is a big one for Taylors Lakes, pushing them right back down to sixth on the ladder as Oak Park and Airport West both sit above them.

Peter Di Cecco was Glenroy’s best while Rodney Carruthers kicked five goals for the day.

Nicholas Franzi had another good game for Taylors Lakes.

Has Taylors Lakes let slip their finals hopes?

HADFIELD 4.5-29 def. by WESTMEADOWS 22.19-151

Game Details

Westmeadows made it two wins in a row with a strong win over Hadfield at Martin Reserve on the weekend.

The visitors were clearly full of confidence after their win against Taylors Lakes last weekend, coming out and defeating Hadfield by 122 points.

Hadfield were just no match and are yet to put a win on the board, and with one game left against Glenroy, they probably won’t get to sing the song this season.

Justin Taylor and Leigh Owen were dominant for Westmeadows while forwards Andrew Vavra, Bradley Sutcliffe and Ben Drummond all kicked three goals each.

Jacob McKerchar earned himself best-on for the Hawks and has featured in the bests for the third week in a row, having a great season at Hadfield.
