By JACOB MANZIE

AVONDALE HEIGHTS 13.2-80 def. by PASCOE VALE 16.17-113 - Details

IT was the final battle between these two teams for the 2017 season and Pascoe Vale grabbed the points against Avondale Heights.

Pascoe Vale have had a relatively good season, and their position on the ladder accurately represents what they have been able to accomplish.

The Panthers finished sixth on the ladder with eight win and ten losses - a respectable year.

They beat most of the bottom sides in the competition and came within arm’s length of some of the best in the business, and this game was an example of what they can do.

Patrick Rose was good yet again for the Heights with four goals, however he couldn’t kick his side to a victory.

He did manage to finish third on the goal kicking leader board for the season, though.

Mathew Cravino was their best player for the day.

The Heights finished eighth on the ladder with six wins and 12 losses.

ABERFELDIE 10.10-70 def. MARIBYRNONG PARK 6.9-45 - Details

A low-scoring game from both Aberfeldie and Maribyrnong Park, however Aberfeldie manage to get the win.

It was a little preview of what finals have in-store as both will play in Semi Finals this weekend.

Maribyrnong Park went in the first break up by four points as only one goal was scored by both sides in the first quarter.

It was a bit of an arm wrestle.

However, the Lions couldn’t hold on and Aberfeldie were able to take back control going into the long break, before running out the game to win by 25 points.

Kyle Reimers was good for Aberfeldie while Zac Keogh was Maribyrnong Park’s best.

Aberfeldie will now have confidence going into a huge game against Greenvale at Windy Hill on Saturday, while the Lions face the Mores on Sunday in an Elimination Final.

CRAIGIEBURN 4.4-28 def. by KEILOR 27.16-178 - Details

The season has come to an end and Craigieburn will be the 2017 wooden spooner as they couldn’t get the victory over Keilor on the weekend.

The visitors had an easy day, beating Craigieburn by 150 points.

Keilor have been good all year and only just missed out on finals by two games, which will be the first time they won’t play finals since 2013.

Craigieburn haven’t managed to get a win on the board all season, which they won’t be impressed with.

Dean Galea was too much for their defenders to handle, kicking 10 goals, however not getting best-on, as Jason Williams took those honours.

Galea will however be crowned the leading goal-kicker of Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division with an impressive 81 goals for the season, beating Greenvale’s Addam Maric by 17 goals.

Bryson Scales was Craigieburn’s best.

STRATHMORE 13.15-93 def. WEST COBURG 5.10-40 - Details

West Coburg were the team that stopped Strathmore in their tracks while they were on a roll last time.

However, things were a little different this time around, and although some of the Mores’ best players were out, Strathmore was able to beat West Coburg this time around by a comfortable margin.

Matt Little had a stand-out game for Strathmore, kicking eight goals and getting best-on, with help from Mitch Purcell and Jaryd Cachia who were both impressive.

Sam Bouwman was West Coburg's best player on the day with a great game.

For West Coburg, the 2017 season has come to end, however, Strathmore will play their first final since the 2014 decider this weekend at Windy Hill against Maribyrnong Park.

ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 13.6-84 def.by GREENVALE 19.16-130 - Details

With not much to lose for Essendon Doutta Stars, they still managed to give the minor premiers a crack on the weekend at Nipper Jordan Oval, going down in the end by 46 points.

Greenvale came out of the gates strong and it set the tone for the rest of the game.

The Stars fought back and came within a few goals at the long break, but couldn’t keep up with the best in the business.

Jack Landt and Jordan Schroder had seven goals between them and both kept the Jets’ defenders on their toes, while the Maric brothers were doing what they do week in week out, kicking straight up the other end of the ground.

This win sets Greenvale up for a huge game this weekend against rivals Aberfeldie for a spot in the Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division Grand Final.

That is a game not to miss.
