Four Favourites All Get Up In Round 10

By LIAM McALLION

NORTHERN SAINTS 13.15-93 def. MOONEE VALLEY 10.10-70

Game Details

TWO of the toughest and bigger-bodied teams were head-to-head and made for a skilful affair.

An in-and-under game suited the grit and grind of the Fog and helped Moonee Valley’s Loui Oppedisano and Curtis Somers step up and at times play the game on their terms.

With the margin hovering around two goals for the first three quarters, Moonee Valley thought they were still in the game.

But the Northern Saints, and specifically Wally Abbouchi, were marvellous, finishing the game with two goals in the last and many goal assists.

Petar Pavlovic stunned the Fog, gaining plenty of the ball and helping his team over the line by 23 points.

COBURG DISTRICTS 23.20-158 def. BURNSIDE HEIGHTS 5.7-37

Game Details

The home crowd at Cole Reserve were able to see their Lions dominate and show how deadly they can be in Strathmore Community Bank Division 2.

A blowout allowed Luke Vesnaver to once again dominate.

He bagged nine and was unstoppable with his long striding leads.

The run-and-carry through of Spencer Aitken helped the Lions pile on goals with pristine forward delivery.

Jordan Agnoleto and Ryan Cauchi stepped up for the Bears with relentless effort and nifty foot skills, but they didn’t have much help from their team mates.

An 11-goal-to-two first half in favour of Coburg Districts gave the Bears no chance of a comeback and in the end it was a commanding 121-point win for the Lions.

EAST SUNBURY 11.10-76 def. ROXBURGH PARK 9.7-61

Game Details

Leading for most of the first three quarters helped the confidence of Roxburgh Park up at Rolling Meadows.

However, with some swift ball movement and overall better pace and fitness, East Sunbury proved how good they can be.

Young gun Tom Burnside was again able to slot four majors for the Thunder – who are now happy to see him in some good form.

Young Magpies star Jack Elliot was one who helped the visitors maintain a lead for the majority with his toughness in contests.

However, in the end it was East Sunbury who gave the home fans something to cheer about with a five-goal-to-one last quarter that resulted in a 15-point victory.

KEILOR PARK 8.5-53 def. by JACANA 15.13-103

Game Details

The ladder doesn’t do justice to the amount of talent both these teams have to offer.

A solid first half for both teams - where the ball was hard to win and well fought for- ended with the Jags going into the sheds only nine points up.

This was on the back of the Devils’ Donato Monello being highly-efficient in front of goal and Peter Corredig’s speed and class by foot.

But even with Cam Cloke only kicking three for the day, the Jags were able to blow the game apart in the second half, kicking eight goals to one.

With Cloke down on his usual output, Bryce Kimuliatis showed his talent and with his aerial ability, was able to get a bag of five for himself and help gain a 50-point win for Jacana.
