EDFL Women’s Football

League seeking interest from Clubs for 2017 Season

THE structure of Women’s football will undergo an overhaul in 2017 with AFL Victoria commencing the handover of its Statewide female competition back to the metropolitan leagues.

In the first stage of transition away from the AFLVIC centralised management model, the EDFL are set to adopt a new senior female competition in time for an inaugural 2017 season.

While the exact makeup of the competition is still yet to be finalised and understanding that many clubs will likely be competing in an inception season, we are encouraging all clubs that have been fielding interest from women, or who are in a position to field a team, to contact the EDFL as soon as possible.

This is certainly an encouraging as it will fulfil the EDFL women’s pathway from the junior program into the senior ranks and provide clubs with a new stakeholder group.
