The EDFL has made two important appointments in preparation for the 2013 season, a new Board member and a new staff member.
Wayne Anthony has been appointed to the EDFL Board of Management, filling one of the two Board positions which were vacated at the Annual General Meeting.
Whilst currently retired, Wayne has an impressive professional CV that includes State and National Management positions for a number of well-known companies, including Mayne Health, Ansett and BP. From a professional perspective Wayne brings strong Management, Finance and Human Resource skills to the EDFL Board of Management.
From a football and sporting perspective, Wayne has always lived within the City of Moonee Valley and knows the EDFL very well. He has had EDFL playing experience with East Keilor and Essendon Grammar. Wayne’s current sporting involvement includes coaching roles with Old Essendon Grammarians Cricket Club.
Wayne’s appointment to the Board is effective immediately. The second appointment is that of Michael Russell to the role of Community Relations Officer, joining the EDFL on a full-time basis to assist the league in providing a greater level of support to clubs.
Michael has previously worked as a Regional Development Manager in Central Australia, Football Operations Manager in Central Australia and Events and Membership Manager for the Werribee Football Club.
Michael’s experience includes establishing and growing Auskicks, working with schools to coordinate school football competitions and undertaking training seminars including Coaching Accreditation, working with clubs to develop their on-field and off-field structures and football operations requirements.
He will primarily be responsible for assisting clubs with their on-field and off-field structures whilst also undertaking some football operations roles.
