TAYLORS LAKES v ROXBURGH PARK
🎥 Broadcast Game 📻
Saturday 2:15pm at Lionheart Reserve

THIS is a split round, but the two matches scheduled this weekend both look like crackers.

The first is between Taylors Lakes and Roxburgh Park, which could have a massive impact on the relegation battle.

A win here would put the Lions two games clear of Oak Park and for the Magpies, they would be three games ahead.

The Lions will be looking to end a four-game losing streak on Saturday.

They’ve had a tough run of late, playing top five sides.

Last week, Taylors Lakes was no match for Craigieburn.

The Eagles led all day but really put their foot down after half time, kicking 10 goals to three as the Lions wasted opportunities in front of goal.

Rhys Deacon was the only multiple goal kicker for the Lions with three.

Brett Thorson continued his good form and was named Lakes’ best.

He’s been named in their best in four of the last five games.

Meanwhile Roxburgh Park will enter the match full of confidence after their best win of the season, knocking off Hillside.

Coming off their worst performance the week before at Oak Park, the Magpies bounced back in stunning fashion.

A five-goal-to-one final term was the difference, handing the Magpies their third win of the year.

Luke Capuano and Jay Barbera kicked two goals each with Jamie Grant and Adrian McKinnon both shining throughout the day.

Both sides will fancy their chances here on the EDFL Match of the Day stage.

EAST KEILOR v WESTMEADOWS
Saturday 2:15pm at Overland Reserve

While the other Division 1 match-up this weekend could impact the relegation battle, this one is important in the context of the top four.

Both sides sit comfortably in that top four, but it’s a question of who finishes where after Round 18.

With the bye on the weekend and Tullamarine suffering a shock loss, the Cougars moved to the top of the table.

They will have to be at their best this week against Westmeadows, which knocked them off earlier in the season.

The Tigers’ form has been a bit up and down in recent weeks, going loss-win in their last four games.

Both those losses were against other sides in the top four.

On Saturday, the Tigers accounted for bottom side Oak Park with a solid win.

After a strong first quarter, the Tigers were able to build the margin in the second half.

Omar Saad returned to form with six goals, while Michael Gillard and Jordan Hollow were their best.

The Tigers will be hoping that they can play some consistent four-quarter football here.

They’ll need to if they are to move into the top two in coming weeks.
