2020 Season Preview Series - West Coburg

#EDFL2020

2019 RECAP

West Coburg broke-even at 8-8 with a percentage of almost exactly 100 last year after being relegated from Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division at the end of the 2018 season.

A 20-point win over eventual preliminary finalist Tullamarine in Round 13, a game in which Team of the Year sharpshooter Liam Bowkett failed to kick a goal, was among one of the better wins the Burgers collected for the year.

Falling two wins short of finals by season's end, West Coburg could have snuck into fourth spot had it have been able to reverse its fortunes in close losses against Westmeadows, Hillside and East Keilor.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

West Coburg enters 2020 as the prime meridian of the entire EDFL and with very little list turnover occurring over the summer, it'll be a fascinating team to watch this year.

Gun midfielder Tom Baravi will be a significant loss, but the Burgers are hopeful that void will be adequately covered by the arrivals of Daniel Johncock, Kurt Veldman and Anthony Daquino.

With Coburg City Oval out of action this year, playing every home game at Shore Reserve should give West Coburg the best home ground advantage in the division, which could prove very handy in its quest to qualify for finals for the first time since going all the way in 2014.
