2020 Season Preview Series - Hadfield

#EDFL2020

2019 RECAP

Coming off a one-win wooden spoon result in 2018, Hadfield showed plenty of upside in 2019, improving its win total to four.

Back-to-back three-point losses early in the season to more-fancied opponents in East Sunbury and the Sunbury Kangaroos quickly reminded all of Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 not to take Hadfield lightly.

The Hawks played with no fear and were consistently able to stay with sides with more talent on the park, resulting in a surprisingly positive percentage of 100.55 despite their 4-11 win-loss record.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

Hadfield is set to be one of this year's big improvers after an impressive summer of recruiting.

Glenroy trio Tom McIntosh, Steve Golding and Peter Di Cecco all bring valuable experience from higher divisions while big men Scott Gilliland and Keegan Shrimpton are set to form a formidable ruck combo alongside the highly-rated Brandon Smith.

With nobody from last year's best-and-fairest and goal kicking top five among the confirmed outs, Hadfield should be considered a finals fancy but until we see this new line-up in action, it's hard to tell whether these Hawks will be good enough to jump from four wins to a premiership in the space of just one season.
