2020 Season Preview Series - Glenroy

#EDFL2020

2019 RECAP

Glenroy was second only to relegated Airport West as the division's leakiest back line in 2019, but its overall defensive output was a vast improvement on the year before.

The Roys recovered well from a poor start to 2019 and went on to pick up four wins a draw to ensure another year in the EDFL's top flight.

A one-point win over preliminary finalist Strathmore and a draw against semi finalist Pascoe Vale showed just how competitive Glenroy can be against the division's best, but week-to-week consistency was lacking for the Roys in 2019.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

Glenroy waved goodbye to three of its 2017 Division 1 premiership heroes over the summer but with a healthy batch of new recruits coming in, the club will be hopeful it has adequately covered its losses.

Outside leg speed and a bolstered back line were the Roys' main priorities in recruiting, with defenders Nick Meehan and Matthew Hay among some of the new faces we'll see at Sewell Reserve this season.

With its core list still intact, combined with the expected returns of Aaron Kite, Mitchell Mills and Trent Fisher, Glenroy could be a side on the up that will be hoping to significantly improve on its four and a half wins from last season.
