2020 Season Preview Series - Essendon Doutta Stars

#EDFL2020

2019 RECAP

Essendon Doutta Stars was Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division's lowest scoring team in 2019, with no individual player kicking more than 17 goals across the entire season.

The absence of key forward Alex Boyse, who only played eight games, did not help matters up forward for the Stars in a year where they averaged only 8.2 goals per game.

While Douttas ended the year three wins clear from relegation, they did drop all of their last five games by an average margin of almost 70 points, including a shocking 162-point drubbing at hand of eventual premier and fierce rival, Keilor.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

The Stars should be pretty happy with their recruiting haul, given they've addressed their two biggest needs – scoring power and tall timber.

Up forward they now have James Peters, Mitch Jensen, Alex Boyse and Karl Brown all poised to play a full season, while new arrivals Jakob Shaw, Dean Johnson and Matthew D'Angelo will all look to support Oscar Sasalu in ruck.

The loss of key defender Charles Lill has also been covered by the arrival West Australian Josef Hebiton, so expect the Stars to emerge as one of the division's potential bolters in Season 2020.
